Quick connector verification system and related method of use
12104729 · 2024-10-01 · ·

A quick connector comprising a connector body having a collar defining an opening, a verification indicia fixed to the collar, and a sliding locker including a base, and a lock arm. The base can include an armature integrally and immovably joined with it, having a wing extending along and spaced from an outer surface of the collar. The lock arm and wing are all simultaneously moveable in unison when the locker transitions from an unlocked mode, where the base protrudes from the transverse opening and supports the wing to obstruct the verification indicia, thereby inhibiting reading and/or scanning of the verification indicia, to a locked mode, where the base is inserted farther into the opening and supports the wing to allow reading and/or scanning of the first verification indicia to confirm proper installation of the quick connector. A related method of use is provided.

Freeze resistant quick connect fitting

A metallic fitting assembly employs a clip-to-body attachment for locking a tube end of a fluid system component to the fitting assembly. The fitting assembly includes a fitting body defining a fluid flow path between a first end and a second end opposite from the first end. The first end receives a tube end of a first fluid system component, and the fitting body defines a clip slot adjacent to the first end, and a material of the fitting body includes metal; and a clip wherein a material of the clip includes metal. When the tube end is inserted through the first end of the fitting body, the clip is inserted through the clip slot and around the tube end to engage the tube end in a connected state in which the tube end is locked within the fitting body. The fitting body includes a main body and a ring end that define the clip slot between the main body and the ring end, the main body and the ring end being attached to each other by a bridge. For freeze resistance, the ring end minimizes distortion of the ring end to 0.010 (0.25 mm) or less at a tensile load of 500 lbf (2200 Newtons). A ratio of a cross-sectional area of the ring end to an inner diameter of the fitting body may be from 21% to 73%. The bridge may have a width within a range of 20% to 70% of an outer diameter of the fitting body.

Valve device with ball locks

A valve device (20) includes male and female housings (22, 24) that together define a fluid through-passage (28). The male and female housings have, respectively, exterior and interior annular channels (22a, 24a). The male housing is receivable into the female housing such that the exterior and interior annular channels together define a toroidal tube. First and second valve elements (30, 32) are disposed, respectively, in the male and female housings. Ball locks (36) are receivable into the toroidal tube and axially lock the male and female housings together. A lock (40) engageable when the first and second valve elements are in functional alignment and which when engaged rotationally locks the male and female housings.

Locking device for pipes

A locking device for pipes, comprising an inner and an outer pipe provided with adjoining and corresponding circumferential grooves for releasable locking engagement via a locking ring fitted in the grooves and thus releasable locking between the inner and the outer pipe by alteration of the radius of the locking ring, wherein the locking ring has an open section or circle sector along the periphery thereof and is provided, at least at the two radial ends thereof, interrupted by the open section, with two respective guide members comprising respective guide surfaces that are slanted relative to the periphery, and wherein a first one of the guide members is provided with an end stop and a second one of the guide members is provided with a control mechanism protruding through an oblong opening provided through the outer pipe along a portion of its radial groove, wherein the radial displacement of the control mechanism along the oblong opening increases the open section or circle sector of the locking ring while simultaneously forcing the radius of the locking ring to increase for release of the locking engagement owing to the slanted guide surfaces.
