Various embodiments concern locking release mechanisms that allow an articulated support arm to be moved between various vertical orientations. A locking release mechanism may include a handle release mechanism positioned within the handle of the articulated support arm, and a gas spring release mechanism positioned within the body of the articulated support arm. The articulated support arm can include a gas spring that remains locked until the handle release mechanism is activated, e.g. by applying pressure to a grip actuator. Other embodiments concern cable management techniques for articulated support arms. Oftentimes, an articulated support arm will include cables routed through the arm that are configured to support an attachment. For example, the cable(s) may be adapted for audio signals, video signals, power, etc. The cable(s) can be readily cleaned and/or serviced when routed through an articulated support arm composed of one or more removable pieces.

An arm includes a sliding block guided along the sliding window, a stopper gear coupled to the sliding block to rotate between a locking position and an unlocking position, an elastic pressurizing means for pressurizing the stopper gear to rotate to the locking position, and a lever means for rotating/operating the stopper gear to the unlocking position. A holder is coupled to an end portion of the arm to enable rotational manipulation.

A pan tilt zoom (PTZ) video camera is movably disposed on the pole to capture surveillance of the environment around the vehicle. A pair of articulated arms is each of the articulated arms is movably coupled to the pole. A pair of digital cameras is each coupled to a respective one of the articulated arms to capture surveillance of the environment around the vehicle. A digital video recorder is coupled to the base and a transceiver is coupled to the base. The transceiver is in wireless communication with an extrinsic communication network to broadcast the data stored in the digital video recorder to a remote data storage device.

Display mounting system

A display mounting system including a central upright support, a first support arm connecting a first terminal upright support to the central upright support, a second support arm connecting a second terminal upright support to the central upright support, and a mounting bracket. The mounting bracket is connected to one of the support arms and is configured to receive an electronic display. At least one of the support arms is rotatably connected to the central upright support such that the support arms can be selectively rotated between an open position and a collapsed position. In embodiments, the support arms are configured to disconnect from the central upright support and the terminal upright supports such that the central upright support and a support arm can be removed, or additional central upright supports and support arms can be incorporated.

Articulating support arm with improved tilter and friction joint

The present application discloses an articulating support arm with improved friction joint designs that are facilitated by the use of a non-annular bushing. In particular, the bushing is designed to interact with another portion of the friction joint to prevent rotational movement of the bushing, thereby minimizing the risk of joint malfunction. A bushing that interacts with a larger percentage of the width of a friction cylinder as compared to prior art devices, thereby improving the performance of the joint, is also disclosed. The improved friction joint according to the present invention may comprise an arm joint and/or tilter joint.

The friction clutch engages the one-way bearing such that the knuckle rotates with respect to the base in a second direction opposite the first direction, the one-way bearing rotating with the knuckle in the second direction, and the arm rotating with the knuckle in the first and second directions.
