A computer-controlled method of automatically purging and precooling a hydrogen fuel line prior to transferring hydrogen fuel from a source to a storage tank includes purging moisture from a hydrogen fuel line. The hydrogen fuel line is configured to fluidically couple a hydrogen tanker storage tank and a fueling station storage tank, the hydrogen storage tanker storage tank and the fueling station storage tank configured to store liquid hydrogen. The method also includes pre-cooling the hydrogen fuel line, causing hydrogen fuel to flow through the hydrogen fuel line to re-fill the fueling station storage tank, and expelling residual hydrogen fuel from the hydrogen fuel line when the fueling station storage tank re-filling is complete.

BAYONET FOR LH2 OFFLOADING

A bayonet coupling system includes a bayonet, a bayonet coupler, and a seal. The bayonet includes a bayonet tube configured to enable the flow of hydrogen fuel therethrough, and a flange coupled to the bayonet tube. The seal is configured to surround the bayonet tube and contact the flange along one side of the flange. The bayonet coupler includes a bayonet coupler tube having an inside diameter larger than an outside diameter of the bayonet tube, the bayonet coupler tube configured to receive the bayonet tube and to seal against the flange at the seal. The bayonet coupler is fixedly mounted directly or indirectly to a hydrogen storage tank such that a longitudinal axis of the bayonet coupler is inclined a predetermined angle with respect to horizontal to prevent a substantial thermal gradient from forming at the seal.

Multi-vessel fluid storage and delivery system

A multi-vessel fluid storage and delivery system is disclosed which is particularly useful in systems having internal combustion engines which use gaseous fuels. The system can deliver gaseous fluids at higher flow rates than that which can be reliably achieved by vapor pressure building circuits alone, and that keeps pressure inside the storage vessel lower so that it reduces fueling time and allows for quick starts thereafter. The system is designed to store gaseous fluid in liquefied form in a plurality of storage vessels including a primary storage vessel fluidly connected to a pump apparatus and one or more server vessels which together with a control system efficiently stores a liquefied gaseous fluid and quickly delivers the fluid as a gas to an end user even when high flow rates are required. The system controls operation of the pump apparatus as a function of the measured fluid pressure, and controls the fluid pressure in a supply line according to predetermined pressure values based upon predetermined system operating conditions.

MOBILE LIQUID HYDROGEN RECHARGER
20220299165 · 2022-09-22 ·

In one aspect of the invention, the system may include a liquid hydrogen storage tank that is placed on a mobile carriage. From the liquid hydrogen storage tank, a submerged pump feeds low-pressure liquid hydrogen to a second pump that is external to the tank. This second pump then increases the pressure of the liquid hydrogen and feeds the liquid hydrogen to a vaporizer system. The vaporizer system includes coolant, a coolant tank, a load bank, a third pump, and a diffusion bonded compact heat exchanger (DCHE) to transfer heat from the coolant to the liquid hydrogen. To further help heat the coolant, heat exchangers may be included to cool systems of the vehicle and recover waste engine heat. After the vaporizer converts the liquid hydrogen to its gaseous form, the gaseous hydrogen is discharged to an external vehicle or tank.
