The flow rate of the stored fluid is provided, via the low pressure coupling and at the output pressure to an external system. The fill coupling extends through the tank wall and receives the stored fluid from a fluid source to be stored within the storage tank.

The housing can have one or more access panels allowing access to an interior of the housing. The cylinder can include a first end portion, a second end portion, a central body forming an enclosed cavity for storing pressurized gas, a reinforcement structure disposed over the central body, and a metal foil interposed between the reinforcement structure and central body. The metal foil can be configured to reduce permeation of contents of the cylinder.
COMPRESSED GAS TANK AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A COMPRESSED GAS TANK
The invention relates to a compressed gas storage tank, in particular for a motor vehicle, with a holder that is designed to store a compressed fuel, and with at least one pressure relief valve. Fuel is dischargeable from the holder into environment of the compressed gas tank due to the opening of at least one pressure relief valve. A catalytic converter device of the compressed gas storage tank designed to catalyze an oxidation reaction of fuel originating from the holder with oxygen. The compressed gas storage tank has at least one piezoelectric element to which a pressure can be applied by opening the at least one pressure relief valve Through the pressure, at least one spark can be generated by means of the at least one piezoelectric element. The invention furthermore relates to a method for operating a compressed gas storage tank of said type.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR FILLING PRESSURIZED GAS TANKS
Pressurized gas tanks are filled from at least one gas source using a transfer circuit, a set of buffer storage tanks and at least one compressor. The set of buffer storage tanks may be filled with pressurized gas from the at least one gas source by pressure balancing via balancing lines without going through the at least one compressor. The set of buffer storage tanks may also be filled with pressurized gas from the at least one gas source that is compressed by the at least one compressor.
Method and control unit for monitoring a pressure tank system
A method monitors a pressure tank system of a stationary vehicle. The method detects a wake-up situation by use of sensor data of a main sensor of the vehicle. Furthermore, in reaction to the detection of a wake-up situation, the method activates a further resource for detecting and/or for evaluating sensor data with regard to the pressure tank system. Moreover, the method determines, by use of the further resource, whether one or more protective measures are to be carried out in relation to the pressure tank system and/or the surroundings thereof.
HYDROGEN REFUELING IR INTERFERENCE SHIELD
An apparatus, namely an infrared (IR) interference shield, is described that can be utilized with a vehicle that employs hydrogen fueling, such as a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). For example, the IR interference shield is mounted onto the vehicle's hydrogen fueling receptacle. The IR interference shield is distinctly structured to reduce or prevent interference of IR wireless communication between a vehicle-side IR transmitter on the receptacle, and an IR receiver of the hydrogen fueling station. The IR interference shield can block interference to IR signals that may negatively affect IR wireless communication between the hydrogen fueling station and the vehicle. Thus, the IR interference shield improves reliability of the communication between the vehicle and the hydrogen fueling station, thereby improving the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the hydrogen refueling process.
Pressure relief device
A pressure relief valve configured to vent a pressurized tank in the event of a fire is provided. The pressure relief valve includes a body, a vent passage, a plug and a latch. The vent passage is disposed through the body. The vent passage can be placed in fluid communication with an internal volume of a tank and with the atmosphere. The plug is moveably mounted in the vent passage. The latch has a blocking member disposed in contact with a control end of the plug in a first configuration and out of contact with the control end in a second configuration. The second configuration allows movement of the plug in the vent passage. One or both of a shape memory alloy wire and a trigger piston is configured to actuate the latch from the first to the second configuration. The shape memory alloy wire is configured to shorten when exposed to a temperature above a threshold temperature. The trigger piston moves, e.g., by a pressurized gas, in a trigger actuation passage to actuate the latch from the first configuration to the second configuration.
