The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method of defrosting a heat pump of a water provision system installed in a building, the water provision system comprising the heat pump configured to transfer thermal energy from outside the building to a thermal energy storage medium inside the building and a control module configured to control operation of the heat pump, the water provision system being configured to provide water heated by the thermal energy storage medium to an occupant of the building at one or more water outlets, the method being performed by the control module and comprising: determining, based on performance of the heat pump, an expected start time of a next defrost cycle; and preparing the water provision system before the expected start time of the next defrost cycle.

Regulation system for a thermo-hydraulic circuit and control method

A system for regulating a thermo-hydraulic circuit has a thermal machine, a heat exchange terminal, a carrier fluid circulation system having a delivery duct, a return duct, and a three-way valve. The system has a pump, a first temperature sensor measuring post-valve delivery temperature of the carrier fluid downstream of the three-way valve, a second temperature sensor measuring pre-valve delivery temperature of the carrier fluid, and a third temperature sensor measuring temperature of the carrier fluid downstream of the heat exchange terminal. A flow or flow rate sensor measures a mass or volumetric flow rate of the carrier fluid. An electronic control unit has a storage device in which a model function of the thermo-hydraulic circuit is stored. A processing unit calculates values of a valve control signal and a pump control signal as function of a mass or volumetric flow rate error and a carrier fluid delivery temperature error.

A controller of a heat pump water heating system drives circulation pumps, and uses a heat pump unit to increase a temperature of tank water within a hot water storage tank via a plate heat exchanger if the temperature of the tank water detected from a temperature sensor is lower than a heat source switch tank temperature, and the controller stops one of the circulation pump, drives other circulation pumps, and uses a boiler to increase the temperature of the tank water within the hot water storage tank via the plate heat exchanger in a shorter time than that of a case in which the heat pump unit is used to increase the temperature if the temperature of the tank water detected from the temperature sensor is equal to or higher than the heat source switch tank temperature.
