20190219349 · 2019-07-18 ·

Provided is a detachable drum ammunition magazine for rimmed cartridges having a housing with a neck portion configured for detachable attachment to a firearm. A first sprocket in the housing has a first axis of rotation. A second sprocket within the first sprocket has an axis of rotation concentric with the first axis of rotation. The first sprocket has a gap through which cartridges are pushed to the neck portion and a hinged follower is on the second sprocket.

Magazine for cased telescoped ammunition cartridges with side-walls having cartridge orientation ribs

A magazine for storing cased telescoped (CT) cartridges. The magazine includes vertically extending side-wall ribs that project inwards into a loading channel. The side-wall ribs are positioned in alignment with a circumferential groove in each CT cartridge. The side-wall ribs prevent a backwards oriented CT cartridge from being pushed from the loading position through the loading channel into a body of the magazine. A moveable lip at the top of the magazine may move out of the way when the magazine is attached to a firearm, to allow the CT cartridge located in the loading position to be fed vertically out of the top of magazine. Each CT cartridge may include a thermal protective insert that provides thermal insulation from heat emanating from a barrel of a firearm when the CT cartridge is located in a chamber of the firearm.

Leaf springs for use in a firearm magazine are described. The leaf springs comprising an inner edge, an outer edge, and a channel, and configured to facilitate movement of cartridges within a feed tower of the firearm magazine. The leaf springs can be in a flexed or unflexed position, wherein downward movement of the cartridges in the feed tower outwardly flex the leaf springs into the flexed position to facilitate downward translation of the cartridges by forcing the inner edge of the leaf springs away from the cartridges, and in the unflexed position, the inner edge of the leaf springs is parallel or substantially parallel to an edge of the cartridges in the feed tower.

DRUM MAGAZINE ASSEMBLY AND METHODS

A magazine assembly for a firearm and a related method are disclosed. The assembly has a magazine housing defining a track, and a follower assembly. The magazine housing is configured to constrain a cartridge as the cartridge is moved within the magazine assembly such that majority of a proximal surface area of the cartridge does not contact the magazine housing, and a distal tip of the cartridge does not contact the magazine housing.
