VEHICLE PUMP CONDITION RESPONSE METHOD AND ASSEMBLY
An exemplary pump condition response method includes, in response to a pump condition, operating an engine to discontinue or prevent a first stop-start cycle during a drive cycle. The method permitting a second stop-start cycle during the drive cycle.
Automatic engine stopping/restarting device, and automatic engine stopping/restarting method
In order to provide an engine automatic stop and restart apparatus capable of realizing excellent startability, and preventing an excessive load from being imposed on a starter (30) and a power transmission system, a starter drive inhibition determination section (12) inhibits, in a case where an engine restart condition is satisfied, when a backward rotation of an engine (20) is detected based on a crank angle of a crankshaft of the engine (20) detected by a crank angle sensor (1) for detecting the crank angle, a drive of the starter (30) configured to crank the crankshaft so as to restart the engine (20), and releases, when a stop of the engine (20) is detected, the drive inhibition of the starter (30).
INTEGRATED STARTER-GENERATOR
A method for remotely controlling the operation of a gas powered golf car, wherein the method comprises, via a global positioning system enhanced fleet management system (GPSEFMS) of the golf car communicatively connected with an internal combustion engine control unit (ECU) and a global position sensor of the golf car: monitoring a location of the golf car as the golf car is moving utilizing geospatial position data communicated from a global position sensor of the golf car to the GPSEFMS; determining when the golf car is one of near or within a geofenced area; and sending control commands to the ECU instructing the ECU to modify operation of the internal combustion engine, and hence operation of the golf car, in accordance with a predetermined operation profile specific to the geofenced area.
CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A crank angle sensor that outputs a crank angle signal at a predetermined crank angle by synchronizing rotation of a signal rotor fixed on a crank shaft of an internal combustion engine, an interval of the crank angle signals being longer at a specific crank angle corresponding to a position of a crank position reference part of the signal rotor, includes a backward rotation detecting function that outputs different crank angle signals in a forward rotation of the crank shaft and in a backward rotation of the crank shaft, and a control part disallows the detection of the crank position reference part when a stop request to the internal combustion engine is generated or when the backward rotation of the crank shaft is detected based on the crank angle signal, and controls the internal combustion engine by calculating the crank angle based on the crank angle of the crank position reference part detected before the detection of the crank position reference part is disallowed and the crank angle signal.
Method and system for estimating fuel system integrity
Methods and systems are provided for operating a fuel system configured to deliver a gaseous fuel to an engine. While the engine is shutdown, diagnostic routines may be performed to identify fuel system leaks or breaches. When the engine is subsequently restarted, fuel rail pre-priming is adjusted based on the presence of fuel system leaks.
Method for Starting an Internal Combustion Engine
A method for starting an internal combustion engine with a fuel tank and a low-pressure pump which pumps gasoline out of the fuel tank at a low-pressure to a high-pressure pump that pumps the gasoline at a high-pressure to injectors of the internal combustion engine. An electronic controller is provided for controlling and/or regulating the low-pressure pump, the high-pressure pump, and the injectors. After a start pulse for the internal combustion engine, the method: checks whether a formation of vapor bubbles in the gasoline is possible on the low-pressure side during a hot start. If not possible, then the normal low-pressure is set. If possible, then a low pressure which is high enough that the formation of vapor bubbles is not possible on the low-pressure side is set, and the normal low-pressure is set after a period of time. The problem of vapor bubble formation is prevented in an inexpensive or cost neutral manner via the method.
CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE, AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE
A control device for a vehicle includes an opening degree sensor to detect an opening degree of a wastegate valve disposed in a bypass passage bypassing a turbine. Circuitry is configured to stop an internal combustion engine while the vehicle is driven by a motor in a motor drive mode. The circuitry is configured to calculate a target opening degree of the wastegate valve to be larger than a maximum error between the opening degree detected by the opening degree sensor and an actual opening degree of the wastegate valve. The circuitry is configured to control the wastegate valve such that the opening degree detected by the opening degree sensor is equal to the target opening degree while the vehicle is driven in the motor drive mode.
Powerplant and related control system and method
A hydrogen fueled powerplant including an internal combustion engine that drives a motor-generator, and has a two-stage turbocharger, for an aircraft. A control system controls the operation of the motor-generator to maintain the engine at a speed selected based on controlling the engine equivalence ratio. The control system controls an afterburner, an intercooler and an aftercooler to maximize powerplant efficiency. The afterburner also adds power to the turbochargers during high-altitude restarts. The turbochargers also include motor-generators that extract excess power from the exhaust.
VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
A vehicle and a control method thereof are provided. The vehicle includes an engine, a catalytic converter including catalyst for purifying exhaust gas discharged from the engine and a sensing unit that is disposed between the engine and the catalytic converter. The sensing unit outputs an electrical signal in response to sensing of gas and a controller starts the engine based on the electrical signal output from the sensing unit and a mileage of the vehicle.
CONTROLLER FOR VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE
A controller for a vehicle, the vehicle including an engine and a transmission gear device, the controller includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to: (i) stop the engine automatically when predetermined engine stopping conditions are fulfilled, the predetermined engine stopping conditions including fulfillment of a shift position condition of the transmission gear device, (ii) start the engine automatically when a predetermined waiting time has elapsed since a change in shift position, and (iii) change the waiting time depending on the duration of an automatic stop of the engine.
