Method for modeling a compressor intake temperature and/or a compressor discharge temperature of a compressor, and a control unit, and a motor vehicle
The invention relates to a method for modeling a compressor intake temperature and/or a compressor discharge temperature of a compressor taking into account a compressor surge, wherein the method comprises: Identifying a pressure gradient across the compressor Identifying a mass flow gradient across the compressor Establishing that the compressor surge is present when the pressure gradient exceeds an upper pressure gradient limit and the mass flow gradient falls below a lower mass flow gradient limit; and Identifying the compressor intake temperature with a temperature correction factor that is dependent on the compressor surge and/or identifying the compressor discharge temperature on the basis of a corrected compressor discharge pressure that is dependent on the compressor surge.
Vehicle engine operation
Disclosed is a system for detecting an operating state of a vehicle engine. The system comprises: an input coupled to a power line of a vehicle; means to filter out relatively high frequency transient noise components of a signal received from the power line; a first detector for receiving the filtered signal and detecting when transient noise associated with the power line rises above a first threshold and generating a first detection signal in response thereto; a second detector for receiving the filtered signal and detecting when the transient noise falls below a second threshold, which is lower than the first threshold, and generating a second detection signal in response thereto; and means for generating a first output signal in response to the first detection signal and a second output signal in response to the second detection signal.
EMISSIONS CONTROL FOR AN ENGINE SYSTEM
A method is provided for controlling an engine. In one example, the method may include injecting fuel to the engine; and during an operating condition, limiting injected fuel based on engine airflow to a smoke-fuel limit, the smoke-fuel limit transiently adjusted from a first smoke-fuel limit to a second smoke-fuel limit based on a duration operating at the smoke-fuel limit. In one example, the method may include during another operating condition, fuel injection not limited by the smoke-fuel limit. In some examples, the duration may be a time duration. In some examples, the duration may be a crank angle duration. In some examples, limiting the injected fuel is based on an estimated engine airflow and estimated fuel injection amount to the engine.
Adaptive control of motor vehicle powertrain
Embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle having different operating modes, and for each such mode a different characteristic of output torque and accelerator pedal position. The rise of output torque in response to a propulsion request is more or less delayed according to the instant operating mode. The invention provides for blending of the response to a propulsion request so that the delay is progressively varied between a source and target operating mode.
CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The engine controller includes storage which stores a fuel efficiency operation line for optimizing engine fuel consumption and a booming noise avoidance operation line for keeping the booming noise below a certain limit. The operation point region where the booming noise exceeding the certain limit is generated is a booming noise region. The fuel efficiency operation line passes through the booming noise region. In contrast, the booming noise avoidance operation line does not pass through the booming noise region. The controller controls the engine according to the booming noise avoidance operation line. The controller controls the engine according to the fuel efficiency operation line for a predetermined period after determining that the driver intends to change the speed of the vehicle.
Vehicle controller with complementary capacitance for analog-to-digital converter (A/D) low pass filter
A system includes a control circuit and an adjustable low-pass filter. The control circuit is configured to receive an input signal and to control at least one engine output based on the input signal. The adjustable low-pass filter receives the input signal, and filters the input signal prior to forwarding the input signal to the control circuit. The adjustable low-pass filter has a first setting in which the adjustable low-pass filter has a first cut-off frequency and a second setting in which the adjustable low-pass filter has a second cut-off frequency. The first setting configures the control circuit to be used with a first sensor having a first dynamic range and the second setting configures the control circuit to be used with a second sensor having a second dynamic range.
CONTROLLING A SETPOINT CHARGING PRESSURE FOR A TURBOCHARGER
A method for controlling a setpoint charging pressure for a turbocharger includes determining a charge-based setpoint charging pressure on the basis of a charge of the internal combustion engine, sampling an actual charging pressure, determining a carried-along actual charging pressure on the basis of the actual charging pressure, determining an offset on the basis of the charge-based setpoint charging pressure, and adjusting, by open-loop control, the setpoint charging pressure to the charge-based setpoint charging pressure by a first-order timing element if the carried-along actual charging pressure exceeds a first value which is lower than the charge-based setpoint charging pressure by the offset.
CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
To provide a controller and a control method, for an internal combustion engine, that can detect occurrence of knocking appropriately, even though the frequency distribution of the knock signal is distorted according to the occurrence state of knocking. The controller for the internal combustion engine calculates the background level by processing a low pass filter to the knock signal; and performs a low side frequency increase which makes a low side frequency, which is a cutoff frequency of the low pass filter in the case where the knock signal is smaller than an output value of the low pass filter, higher than a high side frequency, which is a cutoff frequency of the low pass filter in the case where the knock signal is larger than the output value of the low pass filter.
