Method and system for moving horizon estimation for machine control
Systems and methods for controlling an engine are disclosed. A method for controlling an engine includes receiving a predetermined quantity of sensor values from a memory operatively connected to a sensor, each of the sensor values indicative of an operating condition of an inlet of a diesel particulate filter of the engine sensed by the sensor at a successive instance in time. A parameter of the operating condition of the inlet at a next instance of time may be estimated based on the predetermined quantity of sensor values. The estimation of the parameter may be used as a boundary condition to adjust an operational model of the engine stored in the memory. The adjusted operational model may be used to determine an engine command for the engine that optimizes operation of the engine. The engine may be operated based on the engine command determined using the adjusted operational model.
Systems for diagnostics of a variable displacement engine
Methods and systems are provided for diagnostics of a cylinder valve actuation mechanism in a variable displacement engine (VDE). In one example, during an engine-off condition, the engine may be rotated unfueled, via a starter motor, and a reference exhaust air flow may be estimated. One or more deactivatable engine cylinders may then be deactivated and degradation of the cylinder valve actuation mechanism may be indicated based on a difference between the exhaust air flow following the cylinder deactivation and the reference exhaust air flow.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING EXHAUST AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE ENGINE
A method for controlling an exhaust aftertreatment system for a vehicle includes: determining, by a controller, whether or not a driving state of the vehicle satisfies a clogging determination condition; estimating, by the controller, a normal temperature of a rear end of a catalytic converter upon determining that the clogging determination condition is satisfied; calculating, by the controller, clogging indexes using an actual temperature of the rear end of the catalytic converter measured by a temperature sensor and the estimated normal temperature; determining, by the controller, whether or not it is necessary to settle clogging of the catalytic converter by comparing the clogging indexes with reference ranges; and executing, by the controller, a clogging settlement mode upon determining that it is necessary to settle clogging of the catalytic converter.
Gasoline engine exhaust purification method and exhaust purification device
Exhaust particulates are collected by a GPF(gasoline particulate filter) device. EGR control is executed, and exhaust gas flowing through an exhaust passage upstream of the GPF device is introduced into an intake passage via an EGR passage. In the EGR control, an opening area of the EGR passage is controlled to reduce the opening area of the EGR passage according to an operating state of the engine as a particulate deposition amount in the GPF device is increased.

METHOD FOR THE MODEL-BASED OPEN LOOP AND CLOSED LOOP CONTROL OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A method for regulation of an internal combustion engine with an SCR catalytic converter in which the operating point of the engine is predefined by an engine control unit and the operating point of the catalytic converter is predefined by an SCR control unit. An overall system quality measure is calculated by an optimizer in accordance with fed back values of the engine control unit and fed back values of the SCR control unit, by changing the default values for the engine control unit and the SCR control unit, the optimizer minimizes the overall system quality measure for a prediction horizon regarding operating costs. On the basis of the minimized overall system quality measure the optimizer sets the default values for the engine control unit and the default values for the SCR control unit as decisive for setting the operating point of the engine and the catalytic converter.
