A method for operating a drive device having a drive unit producing exhaust gas and an exhaust gas posttreatment device designed as a vehicle catalytic converter for posttreatment of the exhaust gas. A first measured value describing the residual oxygen content in the exhaust gas is measured by a first lambda sensor arranged upstream of the exhaust gas posttreatment device and a second measured value describing the residual oxygen content in the exhaust gas is measured by a second lambda sensor arranged downstream of the exhaust gas posttreatment device. The combustion air ratio of a fuel-air mixture used to operate the drive unit is set during an at least temporarily performed normal operating mode on the basis of the first measured value, the second measured value, and a threshold value for the second measured value.

Method for adaptation of a detected camshaft position, control unit for carrying out the method, internal combustion engine, and vehicle

A method for adaptation of a detected camshaft position of a camshaft in an internal combustion engine with: Detection of an ACTUAL gas signal in a gas space that is associated with the camshaft and is associated with a detected camshaft position; Processing of the gas signal to produce an ACTUAL gas criterion; Modeling of multiple simulated gas criteria, each of which is associated with a target camshaft position; Determination of a simulated gas criterion with the least deviation from the ACTUAL gas criterion; Determination of an ACTUAL camshaft position that corresponds to the simulated gas criterion with the least deviation from the ACTUAL gas criterion; Determination of a camshaft position correction value from the difference between the ACTUAL camshaft position determined and the detected camshaft position; Determination of corrected camshaft positions by correcting the detected camshaft positions with the camshaft position correction value.

An information processing method includes: creating a first table; calculating a first response surface using the first table in which an object variable is recorded, the object variable acquired when experimental conditions of a first control factor is fixed to a first level value; adding the experimental conditions of the first control factor in which the first level value is set to the first table when the first response surface does not include a target value related to the object variable; creating a second table by adding a plurality of combinations of the experimental conditions for each of the plurality of control factors in which a first plurality of level values are set and the first control factor in which a second plurality of level values are set to the first table; calculating a second response surface including the target value using the second table; and outputting the second response surface.

Method of testing fuel injection equipment

A method of testing a fuel injection system or components thereof includes running a high pressure fuel pump to provide fluid under pressure to the fuel injection system or components. The pump flow is controlled via an inlet metering valve by controlling current or voltage supplied to the inlet metering valve dependent on the power to the fuel pump.

Control device for internal combustion engine

An ECU includes a cooling water temperature sensor, an intake air temperature sensor, a storage unit, a determination unit, and a calibration unit. In an after-run control performed after the internal combustion engine stops, the determination unit compares a cooling water temperature Tw detected by the cooling water temperature sensor with a first threshold value T1 and determines that the environment is not the cold environment in which an EGR differential pressure sensor is likely to be frozen, if the cooling water temperature Tw is equal to or higher than the first threshold value T1, or if the cooling water temperature Tw is less than the first threshold value T1 but is equal to or higher than a second threshold value T2 which is lower than the first threshold value T1 and an intake air temperature Ta from the intake air temperature sensor is equal to or higher than a third threshold value T3, and determines that the environment is the cold environment otherwise. When the environment is determined as not to be the cold environment, the calibration unit obtains a calibration reference value based on the detection value from the EGR differential pressure sensor. The storage unit stores the calibration reference value obtained by the calibration unit.

Control of cylinders of an engine according to an engine configuration scheme

An engine optimization controller may determine values of a set of input parameters of an engine and process, using an engine model, the values to determine a plurality of sets of potential output parameters. The engine optimization controller may determine, based on the plurality of sets of potential output parameters, an engine optimization scheme, which may indicate a first number of cylinders, of one or more cylinders of the engine, to be active and to receive gas; a second number of cylinders, of the one or more cylinders, to be inactive and to receive gas, and/or a third number of cylinders, of the one or more cylinders, to be inactive and to not receive gas. The engine optimization controller may provide the engine configuration scheme to another controller to allow control of the one or more cylinders and one or more fuel injectors according to the engine configuration scheme.
