High-pressure fuel pump for a fuel system for an internal combustion engine
A high-pressure fuel pump for a fuel delivery system of an internal combustion engine includes a pressure limiting valve positioned between an outlet and an inlet of the pump. The valve includes a spring-loaded closing element and a closing body that radially holds the closing element in place, and that has a concave receiving portion configured to at least partially receive the closing element. The receiving portion has a radially outer first area with a first opening angle, and a radially inner second area with a second opening angle larger than the first opening angle. The first area and the second area are located outside of a contact region between the closing element and the closing body.
Protection device for limiting pump cavitation in common rail system
A pressurized fuel system for an engine includes a fuel pump in a pump protection device structured to drain pressurized fuel from a common rail to provide fuel flow through the fuel pump that limits cavitation. The device includes a valve mechanism having a first valve and a second valve that are movable to an open position and a closed position respectively, in response to valve opening and valve closing rail pressures. The active pressure range of the device may be a medium pressure range.
FUEL-PUMPING DEVICE FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, AND A METHOD FOR PUMPING FUEL IN A FUEL-PUMPING DEVICE
The invention relates to a fuel-pumping device (1) for a fuel injection device of an internal combustion engine with a large high-pressure pump (16) and a small high-pressure pump (14) arranged in parallel, wherein fuel can be pumped by the large high-pressure pump (16) and by the small high-pressure pump (14) from a low-pressure region (13) into a high-pressure region (18). The high-pressure region (18) is connected to at least one injector (21). A control device (30) is provided, which can be used to conduct the entire pump output of the large high-pressure pump (16) or the small high-pressure pump (14) into the low-pressure region (13) via a discharge line (15).
Control method for controlling a fuel injection system, and fuel injection system
The invention relates to a control method for controlling a fuel injection system (10) of an internal combustion engine, wherein, wherein, in a fault situation of the fuel injection system (10), a camshaft angle of a camshaft (34) which drives a pump piston (32) of a high-pressure fuel pump (14) of the fuel injection system (10) is adjusted such that an injection time (tI) of injector valve (42) which injects the fuel from the fuel injection system (10) into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine lies in a pressure trough (50) of a pressure oscillation in a high-pressure region (16).
CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A control device is applied for an internal combustion engine which is provided with a high-pressure fuel pump driven by a driving shaft of the internal combustion engine to discharge a fuel pressurized in a pressurizing chamber, an accumulator accumulating a high-pressure fuel discharged from the high-pressure fuel pump, and a relief valve which is opened when a fuel pressure in the accumulator is higher than a specified pressure in order to return the fuel in the accumulator to a specified chamber where a fuel has lower pressure than a fuel in the pressurizing chamber. An idle speed of the internal combustion engine is increased to a specified speed when the fuel pressure in the accumulator has been higher than a determination pressure, which is lower than the specified pressure, for a first period or longer.
Pressure relief valve with a reverse free flow configuration integrated therewith
An example valve includes a piston configured to block fluid flow from a first port of the valve to a second port of the valve when the valve is in a closed position; a relief mode spring applying a first biasing force on the piston in a distal direction; a reverse flow spring applying a second biasing force on the piston in a proximal direction, wherein the reverse flow spring is weaker than the relief mode spring; and a pressure setting spring applying a third biasing force on a check element in the distal direction, causing the check element to be seated when the valve is in the closed position.
High-pressure fuel pump
An object is to suppress cavitation generated at a distal end portion of a seat face when a valve body and a seat portion collide with each other. In a relief valve of a fuel pump, an intersection between the seat face and a flow channel hole is formed at a position more distant than the seat portion formed of the valve body in a valve closing state and the seat face in order to suppress generation of cavitation bubbles when the valve body improves and releases high-pressure fuel.
Method of operating an internal combustion engine
A method and apparatus are disclosed for determining the fuel quantity that is actually injected by a fuel injector in an internal combustion engine. A fuel injector is operated to perform a fuel injection. The first discharge stroke of the fuel pump is deactivated following a start of the fuel injection for preventing the discharge stroke from delivering fuel into the fuel rail. A value of a pressure drop caused into the fuel rail by the fuel injection is calculated. A value of a fuel quantity injected by the fuel injection is calculated on the basis of the calculated value of the pressure drop.
Method and device for controlling a high-pressure fuel pump in an internal combustion engine
A method for controlling a high-pressure pump for the injection of fuel into a combustion engine, the high-pressure pump being connected to a camshaft of the combustion engine, wherein the high-pressure pump is controlled in a camshaft-synchronous manner by ascertaining an angular offset between the flank positions of a camshaft pulse-generating wheel and a predefinable point above the bottom dead center of a cam of the high-pressure pump on the camshaft.
HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP
The invention relates to a high-pressure fuel pump (10) having a housing (12) in which a pressure-limiting valve (38) is arranged in a bore (36), wherein the bore (36) leads into an inflow volume (30) of a low-pressure inflow (22).
