Provided is a radial diffuser that includes a housing, a plurality of diffuser vanes, and a plurality of deswirl vanes and at least one vane extension providing a service routing. Each of the vane extensions is disposed after a radial section and may extend into or through a transition and into the deswirl cascade. At least a portion of the vane extensions include a service passage extending therethrough. Each service passage is configured to allow a service conduit to extend therethrough without adversely crossing either a diffusion flow passage or a transition flow passage.

The suction volute has an annular opening section in communication with the guide section at the inner circumferential side, and an inner wall surface extending from the opening section toward the axial direction of the impeller in the axial direction to increase a width dimension in the axial direction and connected to a partition section at an opposite side of the suction nozzle.

The impeller cover is coupled to the outer wall of the second diffuser. A communicating portion for allowing fluid communication between inside and outside of the hub of the second diffuser is provided at the hub of the second diffuser.

A radial diffuser and method for manufacturing a radial diffuser is provided, where the diffuser includes a vane positioned between a hub and a case. The hub includes a surface. The vane projects from the surface of the hub and is wedge-shaped. The vane includes a leading end extending toward a radial inner edge of the hub, a trailing end extending toward a radial outer edge of the hub, an upper surface, first and second sides extending longitudinally along the vane, and a middle region disposed between the hub and the upper surface. The vane at the upper surface has a thickness defined by a first wedge angle at the upper surface. The vane at the middle region has a thickness defined by a second wedge angle at the middle region. The second wedge angle is smaller than the first wedge angle.

Also, where R is a radius of the fillet and b is a vane height of each of the diffuser vanes, and a maximum value of R/b on a downstream side of a throat position of the diffuser passage is larger than a maximum value of R/b on an upstream side of the throat position of the diffuser passage.
