A system for an aircraft is provided. The system includes a compressing device and at least one heat exchanger. The compressing device includes a compressor, a turbine downstream of the compressor, and an electric motor coupled to the turbine and the compressor. Further, the compressor includes a high rotor backsweep. The system can be an air conditioning system.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM UTILIZING A MOTOR ASSIST AND AN ENHANCED COMPRESSOR
A system is provided. The system includes a first inlet providing a medium from a source; a compressing device in communication with the first inlet; and at least one heat exchanger. The compressing device includes a compressor that receives the medium and a turbine downstream of the compressor. The system is powered by mechanical power from the medium and by electrical power through a motor. The motor input power is less than or equal to 0.5 kilowatt per pounds per minute of the medium compressed.
INTERSTAGE CAPACITY CONTROL VALVE WITH SIDE STREAM FLOW DISTRIBUTION AND FLOW REGULATION FOR MULTI-STAGE CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSORS
Centrifugal compressors can incorporate a side stream flow of intermediate pressure vapor between stages of that compressor. The side stream flow can be controlled by a side stream injection port controlled by a throttle ring disposed between stages of the compressor. The throttle ring can allow or obstruct flow through the side stream injection port. The throttle ring can extend and retract in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of flow from the first stage impeller to the second stage impeller. A method of operating a centrifugal compressor can include actuating a throttle ring by rotating a drive ring to adjust a flow of interstage fluid into the second stage impeller.
INLET DOOR STATE CONTROL SYSTEM
An inlet door state control system for an auxiliary power unit (APU) includes an inlet door configured to allow air into an inlet of the APU. The system also includes an actuator configured to open the inlet door. The system also includes an APU threshold switch connected to the actuator, the APU threshold switch configured to automatically change from an open position to a closed position when a predetermined APU operating condition is met. In the system, the actuator opens the inlet door when the APU threshold switch is in the closed position.
ADJUSTABLE-TRIM CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR FOR A TURBOCHARGER
A centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes an inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between an open position and a closed position in the air inlet. The inlet-adjustment mechanism includes a plurality of blades disposed about the air inlet and each pivotable about one end of the blade, the blades extending through a slot in the air inlet wall when the blades are in the closed position so as to form an orifice of reduced diameter relative to a nominal diameter of the inlet. Movement of the inlet-adjustment mechanism from the open position to the closed position is effective to shift the compressor's surge line to lower flow rates.

An elongate air delivery assembly having a housing extending between two end caps. The housing includes a plurality of exit vents from which airflow is provided in a consistent sheet at a uniform velocity, and the housing is rotatable about a central longitudinal axis to change a direction of the airflow. A method of improving plant cultivation includes positioning one or more elongate air delivery systems adjacent rows of plants such that the sheet of air generated by the elongate air delivery system is directed horizontally across the plants underneath their plant canopy.

The invention relates to a distributor for a turbomachine radial turbine, comprising an annular grill (26) extending about a central axis (10) and comprising a plurality of variable-pitch blades (31), defining between them an air passage cross section, characterized in that each blade is rotatably mounted about a pivot shaft (32), itself moveable in a translation direction, comprising at least one radial component, such that said blade may, upon actuation of control means (40), be pivoted about the pivot shaft and/or moved in relation to the central axis in said translation direction so as to be able to modify the air passage cross section by respectively controlling the metal angle (α3) and the radial spacing (ΔR).
CEILING FAN AND IMPELLER BLADE
A ceiling mounted fan or ceiling fan includes a body defining an interior passage having an inlet and an outlet provided on the body. The inlet, outlet, and interior passage can be annular. An impeller mounted is mounted within the interior passage and driven by a motor mounted within the body to draw a volume of air through the interior passage from the inlet to the outlet. The impeller blades include a set of extensions extending from the tip.
