UNIVERSAL JOINT SOCKET
A universal joint socket has a socket unit, a joint unit, multiple balls, and a collar. The socket unit has a cavity, multiple grooves and multiple ball holes. The joint unit has a spherical joint, and a pin inserted in the spherical joint. The spherical joint is placed inside the cavity of the socket unit with an elastic element inside for supporting the spherical joint, and two ends of the pin are located respectively on the grooves of the socket unit. The balls are respectively disposed in the ball holes of the socket unit for positioning the spherical joint. The collar is mounted around the peripheral wall of the socket unit and closes openings of the ball holes of the socket unit. The universal joint socket has a long operating life and can provide a large torque.
Socket assembly and method of making a socket assembly
The socket assembly has a housing with an inner bore which extends from a first end to a second end. A ball portion of a ball stud is received in the inner bore. A backing bearing is disposed in the inner bore and presents a curved bearing surface in surface-to-surface contact with the ball portion. A first spring biases the backing bearing against the ball portion. The socket assembly also includes an exit bearing with a cylindrical portion that is in contact with an equator of the ball portion and a semi-spherical portion that is in surface-to-surface contact with an opposite hemisphere from the first bearing surface. A second spring biases the exit bearing into a predetermined location established by the housing. The exit bearing is movable from the predetermined location in a direction towards the second end of the housing against a biasing force of the second spring.
Ball socket assembly with a low friction bearing
The socket assembly includes housing with an inner bore which extends along a central axis from a closed first end to an open second end. A ball portion of a ball stud is disposed in the inner bore of the housing, and a shank portion of the ball stud projects out of the housing through the open second end. A backing bearing is disposed in the inner bore and slidably supports the ball portion of the ball stud. A roller bearing or a pair of thrust washers is disposed in the inner bore of the housing and operatively supports the backing bearing to allow low friction rotation of the backing bearing relative to the housing.
Articulated adjustable foot comprising support base
An articulated adjustable foot, including a support base, designed at least partially in an elastomeric manner, including a mounting surface to rest on a support surface, and a ball receptacle, which is open on one side, for a ball that is attached to the end of a shaft. The ball receptacle is delimited beneath the ball by a reinforcement disk, which is embedded into the elastomer and has a central hole, in which the underside of the ball is supported.
Socket assembly with a coated washer
A socket assembly includes a housing having an inner bore extending along a central axis between a closed first end and an open second end. At least one bearing is disposed in the inner bore, wherein the at least one bearing has a bearing surface and a support surface opposite the bearing surface. The socket assembly also includes a ball stud having a shank portion extending outwardly from the housing through the open second end and a ball portion disposed in the inner bore. At least one preload washer biases the at least one bearing into engagement with the ball portion of the ball stud. The at least one preload washer has an outer coating of a low friction, heat insulating material.
Ball joint connector
A ball joint connector for connecting an elongated element to a ball pin includes a socket having a cylindrical cavity for receiving a ball of a ball pin with an opening at one end and a dome-shaped end wall at the opposite end, and a clip disposed at least partially within the cavity and dimensioned to encompass more than the upper hemisphere of the ball, the clip being moveable between a locking position and a retracted assembly/disassembly position characterized in that the clip is arranged to extend, in its locking position, in abutment with the surface of a ball received in the cavity on opposing sides of the ball on each side over a portion of the upper hemisphere and with its lower end portion over an adjoining surface portion of the lower hemisphere.
RADIAL BALL JOINT FOR A VEHICLE
A radial ball joint (1, 50, 70) for a vehicle having a housing (2, 51) for holding a joint ball (11) of a ball stud (6) so that the ball stud can rotate and pivot. An upper bearing shell (7), made from a steel sheet, is arranged between an inside wall (10) of the housing (2, 51) and the joint ball (11). The upper bearing shell (7) is in contact with the joint ball (11) over a contact zone (21) to provide the joint ball (11) with a circumferential slide bearing between its equator (12) and its upper pole (13). The upper bearing shell (7) is in the form of an annular, circumferentially closed drawn component and has in the contact zone (21) with the joint ball (11). A number of lubrication grooves (14), pass through a wall (20) of the upper bearing shell (7), in an embossment manner.
AXIAL BALL JOINT
Axial ball joint (1), particularly for use in a steering gear (7), which includes a joint housing (2) open on a first side for receiving a joint ball (4) attached to a joint stud (5). A housing stud (3) is arranged on the joint housing (2). A damping device (10) is provided on the side of the joint housing (2) on which the housing stud (3) is formed. The damping device (10) includes an elastic damping element (11) made of plastic with a metallic insert (12). The metallic insert (12) is embedded in the material of the elastic damping element (11) by injection molding.
Elastomeric spherical bearing assembly and structural member incorporating the same
A bearing assembly can include a top retainer; a middle retainer having a first concave spherical surface; a bottom retainer having a second concave spherical surface; a spherical ball member; and an elastomeric member coupled to the first concave spherical surface, the second concave spherical surface, and an outer surface of the spherical ball member.
Spheroidial joint for column support in a tuned mass damper system
A spheroidal joint for a tuned mass damper system includes a base having a concave seat and a lubricious liner secured thereto. The base defines a first mounting portion under the concave seat and a circumferential rim opposite the first mounting portion. The concave seat tapers radially outward to define a chamfer which terminates at a radially inner edge of the rim. The spheroidal joint includes an inner member that has a convex seat. The inner member has a second mounting portion extending from the convex seat and an indentation circumferentially extending around the inner member between the convex seat and the second mounting portion. The indentation cooperates with the chamfer for misalignment of the inner member relative to the base. The convex seat slidingly engages the lubricious liner.
