The PS/CVJ assembly includes a pinion shaft having a pinion gear segment meshed with the ring gear and a hollow pinion shaft segment. The PS/CVJ assembly also includes a constant velocity joint having an inner race coupled to the propshaft and an outer race integral with or fixed to an end portion of the pinion shaft segment.

Apparatus for transferring driving force at wheel for vehicle

An apparatus for transferring driving force at a wheel for a vehicle may include a housing of a constant velocity joint having a center of a first end portion formed to be penetrated and inserted into a hub bearing, and a step formed on an inner peripheral surface of a middle portion of the housing, a hub flange supporting an expansion part by the step by having one end portion coupled to a wheel side and another end portion inserted into the housing to thereby form the expansion part expanded in a radial direction, and a forming member installed in the housing to face the expansion part and having an outer peripheral surface supported by an inner peripheral surface of the housing.

Powertrain wheel-end rotational disconnect assembly
09784321 · 2017-10-10 · ·

A wheel-end disconnect assembly for translating rotational torque between an output shaft and a wheel hub of a vehicle driveline. A knuckle bracket at least partially supports the wheel hub. A clutch is operatively attached to the knuckle bracket, is disposed in selective torque translating relationship between the output shaft and the wheel hub, and is movable between: an engaged configuration wherein torque is translated between the output shaft and the wheel hub, and a disengaged configuration wherein torque is interrupted. An electromagnetic actuator is provided and has a slider selectively movable between a first stable position and a second stable position. The actuator is disposed in force translating relationship with the clutch such that movement from one stable position to the other stable position causes corresponding movement of the clutch between the configurations so as to selectively translate rotational torque between the output shaft and the wheel hub.
