The protective ring has an annular sleeve segment, which is concentric to a longitudinal axis, an annular seat segment which extends radially inward at a rear axial end of the sleeve segment, and at least one protrusion, which protrudes radially inward at a front axial end region of the sleeve segment. The protective ring also has a plurality of webs, which are distributed over the circumference and which protrude axially from the seat segment and are arranged inside the sleeve segment.

Universal joint bearing

A universal joint bearing with at least a first and a second elastomeric ring. The universal joint bearing is free from spiral springs, which exert a force on a portion of one of the elastomeric rings. The portion is provided for abutting against a trunnion of a crosspiece of a universal joint in a condition in which the universal joint bearing is part of the universal joint.

A cross joint comprises a flange yoke and a stab yoke, each comprising a based end portion and a pair of arm portions having a shaft hole and extending from both sides of the base end portion, and a spider having a first shaft fitted into the shaft hole of the flange yoke and a second shaft fitted into the shaft hole of the stab yoke, wherein the cross joint further comprises a flexing limiting portion, which limits a flexing angle of the cross joint due to mutual contact of a protruding portion of the base end portion and a flange portion of the spider when the flange yoke is flexed to a predetermined angle.

Outer ring for a shell-type radial needle bearing and manufacturing method thereof
RE047828 · 2020-01-28 · ·

An outer ring 6a for a shell-type radial needle bearing having a cylindrical shape with a bottom is achieved for which fatigue life of the bottom plate section 9a and the continuous section between the bottom plate section 9a and the cylindrical section 8a is improved, as well as the anti-corrosion characteristic of the outer ring 6a is improved and the outer ring 6a can be prevented from coming out of the bearing without an increase in cost. After obtaining an intermediate raw material 35 having a cylindrical section and a bottom plate section from a metal raw material, shot peening is performed on the intermediate material 35 to create residual compressive stress in the surface and surface layer section on the outer surface side of the cylindrical section 8a and the bottom plate section 9a such that the residual compressive stress in the surface layer section on the outer surface side is greater than the in the surface layer section on the inner surface side, and from the surface to a depth of 0.03 mm is 700 MPa to 1600 MPa.

In order to attach cup bearings 18 with good precision in portions between circular holes 15 that are formed in joining-arm sections 10 of yokes 7a, 7b of a cross shaft universal joint 6 and the tip-end sections of a shaft section 17a of a cross shaft 8 regardless of variation in the dimensions of the joining-arm sections 10, the circular holes 15 in the tip-end sections thereof, and the cup bearings 18, and elastic deformation of the joining-arm sections 10 of the yoke 7a during press-fitting work, press-fitting punches 33 are used to pressure fit the cup bearings 18 to a preset reference position inside the circular holes 15, and the value of the pressure that is applied to the press-fitting punches at that instant is set as a reference pressure, and at the instant when the pressure applied to the press-fitting punches becomes larger than the reference pressure by a preset specified value, the cup bearings 18 are determined to have reached positions where press-fitting is complete.

SNAP-IN BEARING CUP

A joint assembly having a first joint member drivingly connected to a second joint member by a third joint member. The first joint member of the joint assembly has a first yoke arm with a first yoke arm aperture defined by a first yoke arm aperture surface and a second yoke arm with a second yoke arm aperture defined by a second yoke arm aperture surface. The joint assembly M further includes one or more bearing cup assemblies having a bearing cup with a base portion and a tubular portion. At least a portion of the bearing cup assemblies are received and/or retained within at least a portion of the first yoke arm aperture and the second yoke arm aperture of the first joint member. One or more attachment portions extend outboard from at least a portion of an outer surface of the base portion of the bearing cup.

Joints with diamond bearing surfaces

Articulable joints having diamond bearing surfaces engaged with metal bearing surfaces are provided herein. The articulable joints provide multiple degrees of freedom to components, such as drivelines, and bear loads in multiple directions. The articulable joints include diamond bearing surfaces slidingly engaged with opposing metal bearing surfaces that include more than trace amounts of diamond solvent-catalyst.

UNIVERSAL JOINT WITH REINFORCED YOKE EARS AND POSITIVELY LOCKED TRUNNIONS
20190376562 · 2019-12-12 ·

A universal joint for vehicle drivetrains and the like that eliminates the spinning of bearing caps relative to yoke years and trunnions and inhibits inadvertent spreading of opposing ears of a yoke away from each other under increasing torsional loads to reduce wear and failure of the joint. Broadly, the disclosed universal joint includes a central body having a plurality of pairs of opposite apertures, first and second yokes that are disposed about the central body over respective ones of the pairs of apertures, and a plurality of trunnions inserted through the yoke ears and into the apertures of the body to pivotally secure the yokes to the body. Each trunnion is non-rotatable relative to its respective yoke and a locking assembly inhibits movement of each opposite pair of trunnions away from each other thereby inhibiting movement of the opposite ears of each respective yoke away from each other.
