A friction lining assembly having a backing plate and a sheet metal restoring spring fixed thereto, for a partially lined sliding-caliper type disk brake having a brake holder fixed with respect to the vehicle, on which friction lining assemblies arranged on both sides of a brake disk are slidably guided. A housing, which extends over the brake disk and the friction lining assemblies, is slidably mounted on the brake holder. The restoring spring is clamped axially between the brake holder and the friction lining assembly by at least one spring leg and applies a release clearance to the friction lining assembly. The spring leg extends over a hammer-head- shaped claw of the backing plate. The spring leg is plastically deformable in a defined manner under braking actuation as a result of a reduction in the friction-material thickness in order to impose a constantly dimensioned release clearance on the friction lining assembly.

A disc brake for a motor vehicle comprising a guide in which at least one brake pad assembly is guided such that it can move in a braking manner, wherein the brake pad assembly has a brake pad carrier on which a vehicle brake pad is attached which can be interacted with a brake disc in order to achieve a braking effect, wherein the brake pad carrier has at least one retaining tongue, wherein the guide has at least one receiving region and wherein the retaining tongue can be accommodated in the at least one receiving means by being guided in an actuation direction, wherein a reset device is in contact with the at least one retaining tongue, via which reset device a reset force acting against the actuation direction can be applied to same subsequent to an elastic deformation caused by braking deflection of the brake pad assembly, wherein the reset device has an elastically deformable region for resetting the brake pad carrier and a plastically deformable region or the permanent adaptation to a wearing of the vehicle brake pad. According to the invention, with this disc brake, the reset device can only be plastically deformed, as a result of a force acting thereon in the actuation direction along a guide surface of the receiving region, if the reset device has adopted a predetermined, exclusively elastic deformation as a result of this force, wherein the plastically deformable region is formed as a loop and is in direct contact with the retaining tongue and can also roll out along the guide surface during the plastic deformation.

A brake assembly includes a housing, a brake element configured to be operatively associated with an axle for resisting rotation of the axle, and a piston configured to be selectively moved into and out of braking engagement with the brake element. The brake assembly further includes a slack adjustment mechanism for limiting movement of the piston when the piston is moved out of braking engagement with the brake element. The slack adjustment mechanism includes a shuttle configured to be engaged by the piston, and a plurality of stop elements carried by the shuttle and configured to be moved off the shuttle into a well of the housing. Movement of the piston is stopped when the shuttle engages an end wall of the well or one of the stop elements in the well.
