A torque transmission device for a motor vehicle, having a torque input element, a torque output element, and at least one pair of elastic members mounted between the torque input and output elements and counteracting rotation of input and output elements with respect to one another. The elastic members are arranged serially by means of a phasing member so that the elastic members deform in phase with one another. The stiffness K1 of the elastic member mounted between the torque input element and the phasing member is less than the stiffness K2 of the elastic member mounted between the phasing member and the torque output element, the ratio K2/K1 being equal to at least 2. One elastic member of the at least one pair of elastic members includes two coaxial helical springs mounted one inside the other.

A clutch plate including first and second plates with the first plate having a friction material applied about its peripheral edge. A hub for connection to an output shaft and having a hub flange. The first and second plates being angularly displaceable relative to each other and being coupled by at least two drive springs. A sleeve extends about a portion of each of the drive springs so that a portion of each of the drive springs extends out of the sleeve. The sleeve being interposed between a radially outer surface of the springs and a facing bearing surface formed by the plates. The arrangement is such that during compression of the springs, the springs are moveable within the sleeves relative to the sleeves and the sleeves are moveable relative to the bearing surface of the plates.

Torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus

A torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus is capable of securely sealing a space housing an elastic member even on application of a centrifugal force or at the time of cooling. The torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus includes a center plate, a side plate(s) (side plate assembly) coaxial with the center plate and slidably relative to the center plate, and an elastic member housed within a space delimited by the side plate assembly to absorb torque fluctuations between the side plate assembly and the center plate. The apparatus also includes a cover member secured to the center plate and slidably pressure contacted with the side plate assembly to cover from outside a space housing the elastic member, and a suppressing section capable of suppressing the cover member from deforming under a pressure acting on the cover member when atmospheric pressure within the space housing the elastic member(s) becomes lower than outside atmospheric pressure.

TORSIONAL VIBRATION ABSORPTION SYSTEM

A system for absorbing vibration and transmitting torque from a rotating power source to a rotatable load includes a rotatable driving member configured as an input to be driven by the power source to rotate about an axis of rotation. The system has a cam plate with a cam surface. A spring is configured to extend lengthwise in a radial direction relative to the axis of rotation. The spring is configured to be compressed due to the cam surface during relative rotation of the driving member and a driven member when the cam plate is operatively connected to rotate in unison with said one of the driving member and the driven member. The spring therefore has an effective spring rate dependent upon the cam surface, compression of the spring absorbs torsional vibration of the driving member, and the cam plate.
