A belt tensioner for an engine accessory drive is installed over a pulley such that rollers extend toward the engine. Due the belt being between the tensioner and the engine, installation of the belt on the pulley is difficult. To simplify installation, a removable belt guide is included in the belt tensioner. Two methods of installing the belt and tensioner are envisioned. In a first method, the belt is first installed on the pulley and the belt guide holds the belt toward the pulley radially as the tensioner is installed over the pulley. In a second method, the belt is first installed to the tensioner and the guide holds the belt radially away from the pulley as the tensioner is installed over the pulley. In both methods, the belt guide is removed after the belt and tensioner are installed.

Belt drive mechanism with gear back-up

A belt drive mechanism with gear back-up comprises a driving pulley to which a driving gear is attached, a driven pulley to which a driven gear is attached, a drive belt drivingly connected between the driving and driven pulleys, and a back-up gear disposed between the driving and driven gears. When the drive belt is engaged with the driving and driven pulleys, teeth of the back-up gear are spaced apart from teeth of the driving and driven gears, and at least a portion of the teeth of the back-up gear are interposed between the teeth of the driving and driven gears. Thus, in a normal state, the drive belt is driven by the driving pulley and drives the driven pulley. However, in case of belt failure, the back-up gear is driven by the driven gear attached to the driving pulley and drives the driven gear attached to the driven pulley instead of the drive belt.

Pendulum-type accessary tensioner

A pendulum-type accessory tensioner includes an elastic unit having a main spring and a sub-spring with different rigidities, in which tension of an accessory belt is kept constant even when different angular velocity variations are applied to the tensioner.

Drive mechanism and accessory system

A drive mechanism that connects to a rotary drive component for transferring rotary motion to another component. The drive mechanism may be a conversion assembly to facilitate a connection to an existing rotary drive component and transfer the rotary motion to another component. The drive mechanism may include a drive shaft, a housing with a rotary bearing and seal, an enclosure and a drive pulley or other transfer component.

DRIVE BELT WEAR INDICATION

A belt drive for a work machine is disclosed. The belt drive has a drive belt that is wound around an input pulley and an out put pulley. The input pulley is rotated by a motor, and when rotated, transfers rotational motion to the output pulley by the drive belt. A controller is in communication with an input speed sensor that measures the input pulley and an output speed sensor that measures the output pulley. The controller calculates an input speed from the measurement of the input pulley, and an output speed from the measurement of the output pulley. The controller also sends a damaged belt signal to an operator control of the work machine when the output speed is lower by a predetermined threshold than the input speed.

A tensioning bar assembly for a drive system of an agricultural machine includes a longitudinal bar having a top end, a bottom end, and a threaded portion. An attachment device is coupled to the top end to attach to a tensioning arm. A compression spring is located around a portion of the longitudinal bar. A first spring retainer engages with and retains a first end of the spring. A first locking nut fits to the threaded portion of the bar and retains the first spring retainer longitudinally in place relative to the bar. The longitudinal bar is rotationally freely coupled to the attachment device to permit free axial rotation of the bar about its longitudinal axis relative to the attachment device, and an engagement head is attached to and located at or proximate the bottom end of the longitudinal bar for engagement with a tool.

Belt driven system and tensioner thereof

The present disclosure relates to a belt driven system. The belt driven system may include a master pulley, a slave pulley, a belt around the master pulley and the slave pulley, a tension pulley configured to tension the belt, and a position adjusting device configured to automatically adjust a position of the tension pulley based on an interaction of the tension pulley and the belt.

MULTI COMPONENT IDLER OR PULLEY FOR A BELT SYSTEM

A multi-component idler or pulley that may be used with a belt and pulley system of an automobile is disclosed. The multi-component idler may have an external idler housing coupled to a mounting hub that is designed to be connected to a mounting surface of the belt and pulley system. The axial position of the external idler housing may be adjustable relative to the mounting hub using a threaded engagement or a plurality of shims between the components. The external idler housing and the mounting hub may be fastened to each other by bolts once their positions are adjusted relative to each other. Different types of external idler housing may also be used with the mounting hub. In this way, the serpentine belt of the belt and pulley system may be adjusted based on the user's needs.
