VEHICLE LAYOUT WITH A CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION

A vehicle layout including a motor, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), an actuator, a controller, a drivetrain and at least one clutch is provided. The motor provides engine torque. The CVT is operationally coupled to receive the engine torque. The actuator is configured to control a gearing ratio of the CVT. The controller activates the actuator based at least in part on an input. The drivetrain is in operational communication with the CVT. The at least one clutch is configured to selectively disconnect torque between at least one of the motor and the CVT and the CVT and the drivetrain.

The invention provides a continuously variable transmission drive system (1) comprising a central friction drive disk (27); two rollers (159; 203) clamped against two opposite sides (30) of the drive disk (27) with their outer rims (169; 205) in friction-drive contact with drive disk (27) and being movable across the disk radius to alter the gear ratio; an input drive shaft (15) connected to the rollers (159; 203) for driving the rollers (159; 203); and a hinged clamping assembly (21; 23) which is associated with the drive shaft (15) and configured for forcibly clamping the two rollers (159; 203) around the drive disk (27) with a variable clamping force that is proportional to the input torque on drive shaft (15).

Torsional vibration damper

A torsional vibration damper having enhanced vibration damping performance is provided. The torsional vibration damper comprises: a vacant area existing between an outer circumference of the sun gear and an inner circumference of the ring gear outside of a revolving range of the planetary gears revolved as a result of relative rotation between the sun and the ring gear; and a mass increasing portion that is formed on the rotary member other than an input element and an output element within the vacant area in such a manner as to protrude from the rotary member.

A continuously variable transmission including: a pair of pressing means that form a torque transmission contact portion in a disk overlapping area where the input disk and the output disk are overlapped; target slip rate setting means that is configured to set a target slip rate between the input disk and the output disk in the torque transmission contact portion to a value higher than a torque transmission start slip rate in the torque transmission contact portion; and control means that is configured to control a force for clamping and pressing both the disks using the pressing means such that an actual slip rate in the torque transmission contact portion becomes the target slip rate.

Centrifugal pendulum and clutch disc having the latter

A centrifugal pendulum and a clutch disk with a pendulum flange provided thereon, rotational about an axis of rotation, and several pendulum weights distributed over the circumference and received on the pendulum flange in a pivotal fashion. In order to at least reduce noise development due to mass momentum of inertia acting here caused by the centrifugal pendulum, the pendulum flange is received on a rotational part, rotating on an axis of rotation, and a friction clutch is effectively arranged between the pendulum flange and said part.
