Method of setting transmission shift points in real-time based upon an engine performance curve
A method for setting a shift point for shifting a transmission for a powered vehicle between a first gear ratio and a second gear ratio. The method includes determining input power data points based on real-time input torque data. The input torque data includes a maximum input torque. The method also includes calculating a gear step value based on the first gear ratio and second gear ratio. The method further includes determining a first power value and computing a second power value based on the gear step value. The first power value and second power value are compared to one another and adjustments are incrementally made in the first power value speed until the difference between first and second power values meets a threshold. The shift point is therefore based on the result of comparing the first power value and the second power value and the corresponding speed associated with the first power value.
System and method for improving cylinder deactivation

An apparatus for controlling shifting of a vehicle and a method therefor are provided, where the apparatus includes a storage storing a power map in which a demand power corresponding to a vehicle speed and an accelerator position sensor (APS) value is recorded and storing an energy consumption map of a power source for each gear stage. The apparatus includes a controller that detects a current demand power based on the power map, generates a power graph representing the detected demand power as the number of revolution and a torque of the power source for each gear stage, and matches the generated power graph with the energy consumption map of the power source to control a shift to a gear stage which consumes minimum energy.

A control device performs upshifting in a state in which an operating point of a rotating electrical machine for outputting requirement-based torque at wheel-based rotational speed falls within an operable range of the rotating electrical machine both before and after shifting a shift speed by the upshifting, and in which before shifting the shift speed, output torque from the rotating electrical machine is less than or equal to determination torque (T1), the wheel-based rotational speed being rotational speed of the rotating electrical machine based on rotational speed (V) of a wheel, the requirement-based torque being output torque from the rotating electrical machine based on required wheel transmission torque, and the determination torque (T1) being torque obtained by subtracting an amount of increased torque (ΔTmg) resulting from torque increase control from maximum torque (Tmax) that can be outputted from the rotating electrical machine at the wheel-based rotational speed.

In one aspect, the method automates calibration a gearshift controller (39) for controlling a sequence of gearshifts in either a stepped automatic transmission equipped with at least one speed sensor mounted on a dynamometer (42) or an automotive vehicle mounted on a dynamometer (42), where the dynamometer (42) is electronically controlled by a dynamometer controller (43). Each gearshift in the sequence includes a first phase, a second phase, . . . and an N.sup.th phase. The gearshift controller (39) includes (initial values of) a first phase control parameters set, a second phase control parameters set, . . . and an N.sup.th phase control parameters set for each gearshift in the sequence that are updated using a first phase learning controller, a second phase learning controller, . . . and an N*11 phase learning controller respectively.
Method and system for power matching during a downshift
A method for downshifting a vehicle having an automatic transmission is described. In one example, the method determines whether or not conditions are met for a power matching downshift. If conditions are met for a power matching downshift, output power of a powertrain propulsion torque source at an end of the power matching downshift is adjusted to an output power of the powertrain propulsion torque source at the beginning of the power matching downshift plus an offset power.
