Multi-layer steel gasket

A multi-layer metal gasket includes a first functional layer and a second functional layer. A bore and a fastener hole extend through the first and second functional layers. The first functional layer has a first embossment protruding toward the second functional layer and the second functional layer has a second embossment protruding toward the first functional layer. The first embossment and the second embossment each encircle the bore. An intermediate layer is between the first and second functional layers. The intermediate layer extends between the first embossment and the second embossment and extends from the first and second embossments to the fastener hole. A spacer layer is between the intermediate layer and the first functional layer. The spacer layer has an inner edge defining a hole through the spacer layer. The inner edge encircles the first embossment. The spacer layer extends from the inner edge to the fastener hole.

The seal bead is a part protruding from a lower face of the gasket member side toward an upper face of the gasket member side. The insertion hole is a through hole into which a fastener is inserted. The dummy bead is a part protruding from the lower face of the gasket member side toward the upper face of the gasket member side. The dummy bead extends around the insertion hole. A resonance frequency of the gasket member is adjusted by a length of the dummy bead in a direction of extension.

The internal combustion engine is configured such that coolant sequentially flows through the cylinder outer peripheral portions along a cylinder bank direction in the in-block water jacket. The head gasket includes one or a plurality of dam portions provided, in such a manner as to block the flow of coolant, at a position downstream of the coolant opening portion corresponding to the cylinder outer peripheral portion located at least most downstream in an in-block coolant flow direction.

Further, in some example, the carrier layer has at least one slot-like or groove-like channel, which extends from the at least one gap between the carrier layer and the combustion chamber sealing element to the outer edge of the carrier layer.

A manifold gasket includes two or more metal plates laminated together to form the manifold gasket, a plurality of bores formed in the metal plates, a plurality of annular seal portions, each surrounding each of the plurality of bores to seal therearound, a plurality of bolt holes disposed at an outer periphery of each of the plurality of annular seal portions so that fastening bolts are inserted therethrough, and a partition protector having a thermal deformation coping portion, located in the two or more metal plates between two of the bores. The thermal deformation coping portion includes offset slits in each metal plate such that none of the slits are aligned in a lamination direction of the thermal deformation coping portion, and such that the slits prevent damage to the manifold gasket due to temperature fluctuations by accommodating thermal expansion or contraction of the manifold gasket.

CYLINDER BLOCK AND CYLINDER BLOCK COMBINED WITH CYLINDER LINER

A cylinder block includes an extension portion that is shaped to extend toward the cylinder liner and is formed on an end portion of the cylinder block so as to form a surface contact with a head gasket. In particular, the cylinder liner includes an end portion forming an accommodation groove portion that is shaped to correspond to the extension portion, and a part of the end portion of the cylinder liner is supported on a circumferential surface of the extension portion and is linked to the accommodation groove portion. In addition, the part of the end portion of the cylinder liner forms a surface contact with the head gasket.

Cylinder head gasket

A cylinder head gasket to be mounted between a cylinder block and a cylinder head of an engine includes: at least one bore-hole plate having a bore hole which corresponds to a cylinder bore of the cylinder block; and a main plate disposed so as to surround the bore-hole plate, wherein the bore-hole plate and the main plate are separated from each other without being in contact with each other, while being connected with each other with a heat insulating member interposed between the bore-hole plate and the main plate.
