A fluid transfer valve has ports arranged in groups. The valve has a rotor having channels and an actuator is operably connectable to the rotor. The actuator is positionable in a loading orientation in which the first channel is connected to one or two of the ports to transfer fluid into the first channel and/or the second channel is connected to one or two of the ports to transfer a second fluid into the second channel. The actuator also is positionable into first and second injection orientations in which various ones of the channels and ports are connected for different fluid flow configurations. Each channel has two ends located on a virtual circle whose center coincides with the rotor's axis of rotation. The channels can have a semicircular shape, a semi-oval shape or a U-shape. An analytical system and method that use the inventive valve are also disclosed.

FLOW PASSAGE SWITCHING VALVE AND LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPH HAVING THE SAME

A liquid chromatograph has a long-life flow passage switching valve with reduced abrasion caused by sliding of flow passage end portions of a stator and flow passage end portions of a rotor seal. The flow passage switching valve includes: a stator; and a rotor seal connected with a rotor configured to rotate and slide on a circumference with respect to the stator. The stator has stator flow passages that open to the rotor seal. The rotor seal has a rotor seal flow passage for coupling two or more of the stator flow passages. A flow passage end portion that is positioned at a tip end in a sliding direction of the rotor seal flow passage is positioned in a direction opposite to the sliding direction of the stator flow passage end portion to be connected to the rotor seal flow passage, at least at the start of sliding.

Fluid cross-free switching valve

A fluid cross-free switching valve includes a valve body, a first drive assembly and a second drive assembly. The valve body includes a valve head, a valve core seat and a rotor valve core. The valve core seat is rotatable relative to the valve head. The rotor valve core is slidably mounted on the valve core seat. The rotor valve core is fitted with the valve head. The valve head is provided with at least three reversing connectors. The rotor valve core is provided with a groove that is in communication with the reversing connector on a fitting surface of the rotor valve core and the valve head. The first drive assembly is able to drive the valve core seat to rotate, and the second drive assembly is able to drive the rotor valve core to slide.

Steering system for use with a drill string

A drill string steering system includes a flow manifold and a rotary valve. An actuation flow channel and a backflow channel are rotatable with respect to piston flow channels of the flow manifold. The actuation flow channel is rotatable relative to the flow manifold to increase or decrease flow toward the piston for controlling actuation of the piston. The backflow channel is rotatable relative to the flow manifold to increase or decrease flow away from the piston to the annulus for controlling retraction of the piston.

The rotation part includes a shaft and a rotor increasing or decreasing an opening degree of the flow path hole with rotation of the shaft. The rotor has a sliding surface that slides while facing an opening surface of the flow path formation part where the flow path hole is opened. At least a part of the rotation part is rotatably held by the housing.

The mounting plate may include a plurality of ports for fluidic connections in fluid communication with fluid passageways in the stator plate. Liquid chromatography elements, such as a packed chromatography column, a sample loop, or an electronic device may be formed on one or more layers of the stator plate. A first stator plate may be removed from a valve and replaced by a second stator having additional or different liquid chromatography elements than the first stator plate.

Relevant to taps and handles and their operation

A tap assembly includes a flow control mechanism, a spindle which rotates about its principal axis to operate the flow control mechanism, and a handle connectable to the spindle. The location on the handle where the spindle connects coincides with the spindle's principal axis but does not with the centroid of the handle's planform shape. When the handle is turned by a user, the handle rotates about the spindle's principal axis. The handle also moves or translates relative the spindle's principal axis. When the handle is in an initial “fully off” position, there is an area that is obscured from a user's view by the handle, but when the handle is initially turned from the initial position towards a final “fully on” position, the area begins to be revealed, and with further rotation of the handle towards the final position, more of, or different parts of, the area become revealed.
