Crimp coupling for connecting a hose to a fitting
11209109 · 2021-12-28 · ·

A crimp coupling includes a crimping ferrule for connecting a hose to a fitting. The fitting includes an outwardly projecting stop collar and a groove which extends circumferentially around the fitting at a constant axial distance to the stop collar. The crimping ferrule, which can be slid onto the fitting, includes a flange, a tapering hinge section, and a cylindrical section. A distance between the stop collar and the groove of the fitting is dimensioned such that the flange, when abutting the stop collar, has a lower edge facing away from the stop collar above the groove. Due to a diameter reduction of the cylindrical section and the tapering hinge section, during crimping, the flange is pivoted such that the lower edge of the flange is turned into the groove by the pivotal movement of the flange.

SHRINK-FIT COLLAR

A shrink-fit ring, the two circumferential edges (10) of which are flanged, makes it possible to use thinner band thicknesses without the risk of buckling owing to its greater intrinsic strength. The circumferential edges (10) end in limbs (16) which point radially outwards and enclose an angle of approx. 70° to 90° with an unflanged centre portion (13) of the ring that is located axially further inwards. The flanging results in an extension of the diameter of the ring edges, wherein the ring edge regions (14) are bent outwards in a rounded manner and the edge surfaces (11) run at an angle of preferably approx. 0° to approx. 20° with respect to the ring axis (12).

A connector assembly may include an elastomeric connector comprising an approximately perpendicular flange at a distal end thereof and an opening therethrough; and a rigid compression fitting having an opening aligned with the opening of the elastomeric connector. The connector assembly may be used with a converter hose. Related methods include attaching the converter hose to a shower head, faucet or spigot.

FITTING FOR CONNECTING PIPES, IN PARTICULAR FLEXIBLE PIPES
20220136633 · 2022-05-05 · ·

A fitting for connecting pipes, in particular flexible pipes, includes a first tubular element, provided with a first inlet/outlet opening and at its interior defining a first duct, and a second tubular element, provided with a second inlet/outlet opening and at its interior defining a second duct. The two tubular elements are connected together in a manner such that the first and second ducts are in communication. The first tubular element is provided with at least one through opening, between an external surface thereof facing outwards and an internal surface directed towards the first duct. The through opening defines a respective empty space between the external surface and the internal surface of the first tubular element. The fitting operates in an insertion condition, in which it allows a pipe to be fitted around said first tubular element, and a clamping condition, in which the pipe is pressed and stably locked on the first tubular element. In the clamping condition, the empty space defined by the through opening is occupied by a portion of the pipe pressed on the first tubular element.

Reinforced hose end connector having a smooth surface inboard end length

An improved end connector for a high-pressure reinforced hose that is subjected to high frequency of pressure cycles and that provides for a low compression deformation of the reinforced hose is discussed. This unique end connector has a stem and ferrule that includes a gripper or cable lock region near a coupler, or outboard end and a substantially smooth length on an outer diameter (OD) of the stem and ferrule that extends from about the gripper region to a hose receiving, or inboard, end.

Hose Structure with Reinforced Pressure Sleeve

Disclosed is a reinforced hose comprising a pressure sleeve concentrically installed over an outer surface of the hose tubing, either above or below the ferrule. An inner diameter of the pressure sleeve is larger than an outer diameter of the hose tubing and the first terminal end of the pressure sleeve is longitudinally aligned with the first open end of the hose tubing. The longitudinal length of the pressure sleeve is greater than that of the ferrule and extends beyond a proximal end of the ferrule. A first interference joint couples the outer surface of the hose tubing to an inner surface of the pressure sleeve, the first interference joint comprising a contact patch located between the second terminal end of the pressure sleeve and the proximal end of the ferrule.

In a hose connector fitting, an outer circumferential surface of a socket is crimped toward a radially inner side thereof within a crimping range along an axis direction of the socket in the state where a hose is inserted into an annular space between an outer circumferential portion of a nipple and an inner circumferential portion of the socket. A shape measuring device includes: a sensor and a rotational moving unit that detect distance data from a reference position to the surface of the socket over a zone including at least the entire crimping range; a shape data generating unit that generates shape data representative the three-dimensional shape of the socket surface based on the detected distance data; and a measurement data calculating unit that calculates measurement data about the crimping state of the socket based on the shape data.
