An airflow door for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The airflow door has a first material and a second material. The first material and the second material are temperature responsive materials that change shape at different temperatures such that at a first temperature the first material and the second material are shaped to provide the airflow door with a first configuration, and at a second temperature the first material and the second material are shaped to provide the airflow door with a second configuration that is different from the first configuration.

Thermally adaptive enclosure vent

An enclosure vent is operable to be mounted to a building that presents an interior space and to move in response to a change in vent temperature. The vent includes a vent frame and a laminated composite vent panel. The vent panel includes outer and inner panel layers and an intermediate connecting structure that connects the panel layers relative to one another along an interface defined between the panel layers. The outer and inner panel layers have, respectively, first and second coefficients of thermal expansion that are different from each other and cause expansion and contraction of the corresponding panel layers along the interface. The connecting structure permits expansion and/or contraction of each panel layer in response to a vent temperature change so that the panel flexes.

Dynamic damper in the ductwork of an air handling system

Apparatus contemplating a damper apparatus for controlling airflow through a ductwork in an air handling system. The damper has a stationary plenum having a collar defining a through opening. A damper blade assembly has a rigid damper blade defining a substantially flat area sized larger than a cross-sectional area of the through opening. The damper blade is selectively positionable between an open position in which the flat area is retained parallel to the collar and thereby clearingly disengages the plenum to open the through opening an thereby permit the airflow to pass through the plenum, and a closed position in which the flat area is perpendicular to the collar and engages against the collar to close the through opening and thereby prevent the airflow from passing through the plenum.

Air vent and vehicle with an air vent

An air vent for a vehicle includes a housing with an air inlet, an air outlet, and an air channel between the air inlet and the air outlet; a rigid air directing body arranged within the air channel and pivotably arranged within the housing by being affixed to a first axis; an actuator arranged within the housing in order to act on the rigid air-directing body to determine a direction of an air stream exiting the air outlet, the actuator comprising a transmission element affixed to a second axis and pivotable around the second axis.
