A smokeless article for oral consumption comprising a pouch is described. The pouch encloses a content which comprises nicotine-dosed bamboo fibres. The bamboo fibres have a particle size of 10-500 μm. The smokeless article may be used for the oral delivery of nicotine to a consumer.

The present invention is directed to a filling material for use in an oral pouched smokeless product, the filling material comprising tobacco material, characterized in that the total tobacco material content of the filling material consists of tobacco material derived from tobacco stalks, tobacco roots, tobacco flowers or combinations thereof.

In one embodiment, the filler according to the present invention for a smoking article, said filler comprising a gel which contains a gelling agent and one or more gelation promoters, is characterized by having a tap density of 0.05 g/cm.sup.3 or less and a degree of suitability to compression filling of more than 60. Compositions made from combinations including an hydrated ionic clay and a tobacco material are described herein. Methods of manufacture, as well as methods of extracting nicotine from these compositions are also described. The compositions can be used to prepare liquid vaporizable materials by extracting nicotine from tobacco material and directly from the tobacco material and into a liquid vaporizable material.

Provided herein, inter alia, are compositions including sol-gels and nicotine. The compositions are readily prepared and stored in cartridges or used directly in a device for delivering nicotine to a user.
