Process integration for natural gas liquid recovery
A natural gas liquid recovery system includes a cold box and a refrigeration system. The refrigeration system includes a primary refrigerant loop in fluid communication with the cold box. The primary refrigerant loop includes a primary refrigerant including a first mixture of hydrocarbons. The refrigeration system includes a secondary refrigerant loop. The secondary refrigerant loop includes a secondary refrigerant including i-butane. The refrigeration system includes a first subcooler configured to transfer heat between the primary refrigerant of the primary refrigerant loop and the secondary refrigerant of the secondary refrigerant loop. The refrigeration system includes a second subcooler downstream of the first subcooler. The second subcooler is configured to transfer heat between the primary refrigerant and a vapor phase of the primary refrigerant. The cold box is configured to receive the primary refrigerant from the second subcooler.
Device and method for separating air by cryogenic distillation
Method for separating air by cryogenic distillation, wherein at least part of the air to be distilled is boosted in an air booster, compressed air is allowed to expand in at least one expansion turbine and, if the pressure drop between two points of the booster passes under a threshold and/or a flow of the booster passes under a minimum flow of the booster, part of the air boosted in the booster is allowed to expand without having been cooled between the booster and the expansion turbine and the boosted expanded air is sent upstream or downstream of the at least one turbine, without having been cooled in the heat exchanger, after having been boosted.
Method and device for separating air by cryogenic distillation
Method for separating air by cryogenic distillation, wherein air is compressed in a compressor and is subsequently sent to a heat exchanger, with the air cooled in the exchanger being sent to a check valve downstream of the heat exchanger and subsequently to a turbine, the valve being positioned so that air from a short-circuiting duct cannot return to the exchanger from the compressor.
CRYOGENIC AIR SEPARATION UNIT WITH FLEXIBLE LIQUID PRODUCT MAKE
A cryogenic air separation unit that provides flexibility in the production of liquid products is disclosed. The present cryogenic air separation unit and associated operating methods involves the use of a dual nozzle arrangement for the main heat exchanger that allows a turbine air stream draw from the main heat exchanger at different temperatures to provide refrigeration to the cryogenic air separation unit which, in turn, enables different production modes for the various liquid products.
Process for increasing low pressure pure nitrogen production by revamping original apparatus for cryogenic air separation
The object of the present invention is to provide a different solution for revamping existing producing apparatuses so as to increase the production of low pressure pure nitrogen while controlling as far as possible the capital and operation expenditures. The revamping solution comprises increasing the diameter and/or height of a pure nitrogen column to thereby improve the production capacity thereof; choosing to switch the conduits where the waste liquid nitrogen and pure liquid nitrogen are passed through in the subcooler according to the increment of the low pressure pure nitrogen production; adding an additional heat exchanger to conduct a heat exchange between a portion of the medium pressure air and the increased low pressure pure nitrogen; or simultaneously switching the main parts of the conduits which transfer the pure liquid nitrogen and waste liquid nitrogen from a first column of higher pressure to a second column of lower pressure while performing the above revamping. The stepwise revamping solution of the present invention can be used not only to control the cost but also increase the low pressure pure nitrogen production while ensuring a stable operation of the air separation unit.
AIR SEPARATION UNIT
An air separation unit comprises: a first waste gas control valve which is provided in a first waste gas pipe; a first waste gas flow rate control unit which measures a gas flow rate in the first waste gas pipe and adjusts a degree of opening of the first waste gas control valve so that a measured value which has been measured reaches a preset first waste gas flow rate set value; a second waste gas control valve which is provided in a second waste gas pipe; a regeneration gas flow rate control unit which measures the gas flow rate in a regeneration gas pipe and outputs a first output value based on a measured value which has been measured and a preset regeneration gas flow rate set value; and a control unit which uses, as a target set value of the flow rate of a second waste gas, a value obtained by subtracting the first waste gas flow rate set value of the first flow rate measuring unit from the flow rate set value of the regeneration gas flow rate, compares the first output value with a second output value based on a value obtained by subtracting the measured value of the first flow rate control unit from the measured value of the regeneration gas flow rate control unit, controls the degree of opening of the second waste gas control valve on the basis of the lower of the values, and adjusts the second waste gas flow rate.
Method for controlling a coupled heat exchanger system and heat exchanger system
A method for controlling a coupled heat exchanger system having a first heat exchanger block and a second heat exchanger block. A first fluid stream is divided into a first partial current and a second partial current both flowing through the heat exchanger system. A second fluid stream flows through the first heat exchanger block counter to the first partial current. A third fluid stream flows through the second heat exchanger block counter to the second partial current. An intermediate temperature is measured on one of the heat exchanger blocks. The amount of the first partial current and the second partial current is controlled based on the current value of the intermediate temperature. This control reduces the strain on the heat exchangers by changing loads while keeping fluctuations of the intermediate temperature low.
