CAMSHAFT PHASER INCLUDING LOCKING PART OR ROTOR HAVING GROOVE
A camshaft phaser includes for an internal combustion engine includes a stator, a rotor rotatable with respect to the stator, a locking cover non-rotatably fixed to the stator and a locking assembly including a locking part configured for engaging with the locking cover to selectively lock the rotor with respect to the stator. The locking part is configured for being movable via hydraulic fluid in a hole in the rotor. The locking part or a surface of the hole including a groove configured for receiving contaminant particles in the hydraulic fluid.
CAMSHAFT PHASER WITH PIN
A camshaft phaser includes a stator defining a cavity and configured to receive power from an engine crankshaft. The phaser further includes a rotor supported within the cavity and rotatable relative to the stator. The rotor has a first face, a second face, and a first hole extending from the first face to the second face. A target wheel of the phaser has a plate portion configured to be read by a camshaft-position sensor and a hub portion seated on the first face. The hub portion defines a second hole that is aligned with the first hole. A pin extends through the first and second holes to rotationally align and secure the target wheel to the rotor.
CONTROL DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VALVE TIMING ADJUSTMENT DEVICE
An ECU (101) causes lock pin-release hydraulic pressure to be applied to an advance-side lock pin-release oil passage (5a) to disengage an advance-side lock pin (6) from an advance-side engagement groove (9), thereby making a rotor (1) rotatable in an advance direction, and forming a clearance communicating with a retard-side lock pin-release oil passage (5c), between the advance-side engagement groove (9) and the advance-side lock pin (6). Next, the ECU (101) causes hydraulic pressure to be applied to advancing hydraulic chambers (16) to rotate the rotor (1), and causes the lock pin-release hydraulic pressure to be applied through the clearance and through the retard-side lock pin-release oil passage (5c) to a retard-side engagement groove (10) to disengage a retard-side lock pin (7).
ROTOR TIMING FEATURE FOR CAMSHAFT PHASER
A rotor is provided for a camshaft phaser. The rotor includes a plurality of vanes, a locking pin aperture, a vent passage connected to an end of the locking pin aperture, and an axial face configured to connect with a camshaft. The axial face defines a timing protrusion that is aligned with the vent passage or the locking pin aperture, and configured to be received by the camshaft.
HYDRAULIC CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER, AND METHOD FOR OPERATING THE HYDRAULIC CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER
A hydraulic camshaft adjuster adjusts the control time of gas exchange of an internal combustion engine. A reservoir for storing pressure medium is formed on a cover of the hydraulic camshaft adjuster. An overflow opening of the cover is dimensioned such that a volume of pressure medium remains in the reservoir when the hydraulic camshaft adjuster is stationary. This ensures that pressure medium is supplied to the return valve of a central locking mechanism when the engine is running.
Hydraulically actuated camshaft phasers for concentrically arranged camshafts
A camshaft phaser assembly, including: an axis of rotation; a first hydraulic camshaft phaser including a stator arranged to receive rotational torque and including a plurality of radially inwardly extending protrusions, a rotor including a plurality of radially outwardly extending protrusions circumferentially interleaved with the plurality of radially inwardly extending protrusions, and a plurality of phaser chambers, each phaser chamber circumferentially bounded by a respective radially inwardly extending protrusion included in the plurality of radially inwardly extending protrusions and a respective radially outwardly extending protrusion included in the plurality of radially outwardly extending protrusions; a second hydraulic camshaft phaser; a cap; and a fluid chamber bounded in part by the cap and in fluid communication with a phaser chamber included in the plurality of phaser chambers; and a bolt arranged to non-rotatably connect the rotor and the cap to a camshaft.
Zero pressure unlocking system for a phaser
Using existing phaser control valve and a solenoid to create a pumping chamber which provides enough oil pressure to disengage a locking pin at all conditions.
CHECK VALVE AND VALVE TIMING CONTROLLER
A check valve includes: a wall body in which a communication hole enabling flow of a fluid is formed; a valve body movable to a closed position where the communication hole is closed as the valve body comes into close contact with the wall body or to an open position where the fluid flows through the communication hole as the valve body is separated from the wall body; a spring body urging the valve body in a direction in which the valve body comes into close contact with the wall body; and a spring receiving member receiving a reaction force when the spring body urges the valve body. The spring body is configured as a conical spring, so that a winding diameter of one end portion is larger than a winding diameter of the other end portion in a compression direction.
VALVE TIMING CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An internal combustion engine valve timing control device includes a communication passage formed in a first rotating member to communicate with a working chamber, and including a first opening. The first opening is opened to a back pressure chamber when a tip portion of a lock member is inserted in a lock hole, and is closed by the lock member when the tip portion of the lock member is out of the lock hole. A first cross-sectional area is smaller than a second cross-sectional area, wherein the first cross-sectional area is a smaller one of a minimum cross-sectional area of the communication passage and an open cross-sectional area of the first opening, and the second cross-sectional area is a smaller one of a minimum cross-sectional area of an exhaust passage and an open cross-sectional area of an opening of the exhaust passage opened to the back pressure chamber.
