Cam shaft phaser with mid-position and retard lock position
A cam shaft phaser, including: a stator including stops; a rotor rotatable with respect to the stator and including a plurality vanes extending radially outward from a body; a plurality of channels, each channel passing through a respective vane included in the plurality of vanes; and a plurality of pairs of advance and retard chambers at least partially formed by the plurality of radially inwardly extending stops and the plurality of vanes. Advance and retard chambers for each pair of advance and retard chambers are separated in a first circumferential direction by a respective vane from the plurality of vanes. Each channel connects the advance and retard chambers for said each pair of advance and retard chambers. The first plurality of channels are arranged to enable fluid flow through the first plurality of channels to displace the rotor from at least one circumferential position to a mid-lock or retard-lock position.
Camshaft phaser using one-way slipper clutches
A camshaft phaser comprising an advance one-way clutch and a retard one-way clutch. The camshaft phaser comprises an input component arranged to receive torque from an engine, an advance inner ring, a plurality of rollers circumferentially arranged around the advance inner ring, an advance outer ring radially disposed between the input component and the advance inner ring, and an actuation assembly arranged to be disposed within a camshaft, the actuation assembly comprises advance locking pin assemblies arranged in advance channels and an actuator rod. For an advanced mode, the actuator rod is arranged to radially displace advance locking pin assemblies to non-rotatably connect the camshaft and advance inner ring, the rollers ride up ramps on advance outer ring, which expands radially to engage the input component. The retard clutch is substantially similar, and arranged diametrically opposed, to the advance clutch.
Wedge clutch for a camshaft phaser
A wedge clutch for a camshaft phaser is disclosed. The wedge clutch includes a stator including a pressure plate. The wedge clutch further includes a wedge plate including a notch. The notch includes a pulling surface. The wedge clutch further includes a rotor including a pin inside of a chamber. The pin is configured to rotate the wedge plate in a first circumferential direction relative to the rotor by sliding along the pulling surface as the pin extends out of the chamber to disengage the wedge clutch from the pressure plate.
System for controlling valve opening/closing timing
A system for controlling valve opening/closing timing that allows an unlocking operation to be reliably performed is configured. When extracting a lock member from a recess, a second control valve is set to an unlock position, a first control valve is set to a predetermined position, and a relative rotation phase is displaced. As a result, the relative rotation phase is displaced in a direction opposite to the direction of displacement by cam average torque from a camshaft. Afterward, by setting the first control valve to a neutral position, the relative rotation phase is displaced by the cam average torque, and when this displacement occurs, a state in which the lock member is separated from an inner wall of the recess is created, thus facilitating extraction of the lock member from the recess.
Variable camshaft timing mechanism with a lock pin engaged by oil pressure
A hydraulically operated camshaft phasing mechanism has two lock pins. One of the lock pins engages at an intermediate position and an end lock pin engages near one of the stops at the end of the phaser range of authority. At least one of the locking pins, preferably the end lock pin, when the vane is at an end stop position, is engaged by oil pressure and spring loaded to release when the oil pressure side of the end lock pin is vented.
Cushion ring assembly for a sprocket driven by a chain
A sprocket assembly which is either driven by a drive chain or which drives the drive chain includes a hub centered about a sprocket axis and defining a hub radially outer surface; a plurality of sprocket teeth extending radially outward from the hub; and a cushion ring assembly adjacent to the plurality of sprocket teeth and circumferentially surrounding the hub radially outer surface. The cushion ring assembly includes a cushion ring adjacent to the plurality of sprocket teeth and circumferentially surrounding the hub radially outer surface; the cushion ring being resilient and compliant. The cushion ring assembly also each includes a retention ring which is partially embedded within the cushion ring and which engages the hub radially outer surface in an interference fit, the retention ring providing axial and radial retention of the cushion ring to the hub.
Valve opening/closing timing control device
Provided is a valve opening/closing timing control device that can speedily achieve a stable operation at the time of starting an engine. The device includes a drive-side rotating body that is rotated in synchronism with a crankshaft and has a plurality of projecting portions, a driven-side rotating body that has a partition portion which forms an advance angle chamber and a retard angle chamber and that is rotated together with a camshaft for valve opening/closing, an intermediate lock mechanism switchable between a locked state and an unlocked state, a pump for supplying fluid to the advance angle chamber, the retard angle chamber or the intermediate lock mechanism, and a communication passage configured to establish communication between the advance angle chamber and the retard angle chamber disposed adjacent in a circumferential direction when the intermediate lock mechanism is under the locked state.
Internal combustion engine
An internal combustion engine includes a variable valve timing mechanism. The variable valve timing mechanism includes a first member configured to rotate according to rotation of a crankshaft, a second member configured to be displaced relative to the first member between a most retarded angle position and a most advanced angle position, and a lock pin configured to engage with the first member and the second member. When displacing the second member from an initial angle, the variable valve timing mechanism supplies oil pressure such that the lock pin moves to a position where the lock pin disengages from the first member and the second member. A valve rest mechanism is capable of performing a rest operation when a displacement angle of the second member relative to the first member is equal to or more than a prescribed waiting angle displaced relative to the initial angle.
Control device for internal combustion engine
The present invention is equipped with: a valve opening/closing timing control mechanism that sets the opening/closing timing of an exhaust valve; and a lock mechanism that holds the rotation phase of the valve opening/closing timing control mechanism in a first lock phase, in which the open state of the exhaust valve is maintained when the intake valve opens.
Camshaft adjuster
A camshaft adjuster has multiple locking guide slots and multiple locking pins spring-loaded in the direction of engagement with the locking guide slots and which, by varying assignment to the rotor and to the stator, are arranged relative to one another such that the rotor can, under the action of fluctuating torques, be automatically locked into the predetermined center position relative to the stator proceeding from a first early or late stop position by a successive engagement of the locking pins into the locking guide slots. The locking pins and the locking guide slots are arranged so that, in the event of a rotation of the rotor in the direction of the center locking position proceeding from the respective other second early or late stop position, the locking pins lock into the locking guide slots in the reverse sequence from different directions.
