A combustion system is applied to an engine. The combustion system includes an injection device that injects a fuel into a combustion chamber, a spark plug that ignites fuel in the combustion chamber, and a control device that controls the injection device and the spark plug. The control device includes a first control unit that executes predetermined first control. In the first control, control is performed such that, a total injection amount corresponding to all the fuel injected by the injection device in one combustion cycle of the engine is injected within a first period corresponding to a period from valve close timing which brings an intake valve into a closed state until a first half of a compression stroke of the engine ends.

An engine assembly includes an internal combustion engine and a carbon monoxide (CO) sensor unit. The CO sensor unit includes a CO sensor controller including a CO sensing circuit configured to detect a level of CO and a shutdown circuit. The shutdown circuit is configured to receive a detected level of CO and calculate a trailing window average of the detected level of CO. The trailing window average includes an average of the detected level of CO over a predetermined sampling window. The shutdown circuit is further configured to determine whether to initiate a shutdown of the internal combustion engine based on at least the calculated trailing window average and a predetermined trailing window average threshold and initiate the shutdown of the internal combustion engine based on determining that the trailing window average exceeds the predetermined trailing window average threshold.

Methods and systems for a motor vehicle

Methods and systems are provided for emissions reduction in a vehicle. In one example, a method includes pre-emptively adjusting engine operating parameters in response to an anticipated emissions causal event. The emissions causal event lasting for less than a threshold period of time or less than a threshold distance.

CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTING SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE-BASED MACHINES

An internal combustion engine-based system includes an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine-based system includes an engine interrupt connected to the engine. The engine interrupt is configured to selectively stop the operation of the engine. The internal combustion engine-based system includes a controller in communication with the engine interrupt. The internal combustion engine-based system includes a carbon monoxide detector in communication with the controller. The controller uses the engine interrupt to stop the operation of the engine when the carbon monoxide detector provides the controller with signals that are representative of a carbon monoxide level proximate the internal combustion engine that together form a trend of building carbon monoxide amounts over a set time interval.

Control unit for adapting the emission of a vehicle

A control unit is provided for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine which generates exhaust gases when a fuel is burnt. The vehicle has a multiplicity of emission-relevant functions by which a quantity of emissions in the exhaust gases can be changed. The control unit is configured to determine a planning emission value for a planning time period, wherein the planning emission value indicates the quantity of emissions in the exhaust gases in the planning time period. The control unit is further configured to operate the multiplicity of emission-relevant functions within the planning time period as a function of the planning emission value.

Calculation of exhaust emissions of a motor vehicle

A method for ascertaining emissions of a motor vehicle driven with the aid of an internal combustion engine in a practical driving operation. A machine learning system is trained to generate time curves of the operating variables with the aid of measured time curves of operating variables of the motor vehicle and/or of the internal combustion engine, and to then ascertain the emissions as a function of these generated time curves.

Control device for internal combustion engine

A control device for the internal combustion engine is provided with a carbon dioxide concentration control part configured to cause a concentration of carbon dioxide in exhaust flowing into the filter to decrease when the temperature of the filter becomes a predetermined first temperature setting or more and less than a predetermined second temperature setting. The first temperature setting is made a temperature selected from a temperature band at which ash deposited on the filter can be made to be separate from the filter when the inside of the filter is in an atmosphere where the concentration of carbon dioxide is lower than when it is in an exhaust atmosphere. The second temperature setting is made a temperature set so as to prevent excessive temperature rise of the catalyst device.
