DEDICATED EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An engine control system of a vehicle includes a fuel control module that controls fuel injection of a first cylinder of an engine based on a first target air/fuel ratio that is fuel lean relative to a stoichiometric air/fuel ratio and that controls fuel injection of a second cylinder of the engine based on a second target air/fuel ratio that is fuel rich relative to stoichiometry. The first cylinder outputs exhaust to a first three way catalyst (TWC), and the second cylinder outputs exhaust to an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. An EGR control module controls opening of the EGR valve to: (i) a second TWC that reacts with nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust and outputs ammonia to a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst; and (ii) a conduit that recirculates exhaust back to an intake system of the engine.

According to various embodiments, an exhaust treatment system includes a catalyst that is in direct contact with an exhaust stream, at least one sensor that senses a system parameter and produces one or more signals corresponding to the system parameter, and a controller that is configured to receive the one or more signals and control catalyst performance based on the one or more signals by regenerating the catalyst. Regenerating the catalyst includes increasing a temperature of the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst and directing a reductant injector to adjust a flow rate of reductant being injected into the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst.
Control apparatus for an internal combustion engine
In a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which processing of regenerating the NOx storage capacity of an NSR catalyst is carried out in accompany with processing of diagnosing an abnormality in an exhaust gas purification device including the NSR catalyst, the present invention is intended to suppress the fluctuation of torque at the time of regenerating the NOx storage capacity of the NSR catalyst, and to terminate abnormality diagnostic processing quickly. According to the invention, by setting an engine air fuel ratio, which has been set to a lean air fuel ratio before the processing of regenerating the NOx storage capacity of the NSR catalyst is started, to a weak lean air fuel ratio which is lower than a basic lean air fuel ratio and higher than a stoichiometric air fuel ratio, it becomes possible to suppress the fluctuation of torque at the time of regeneration processing being started, and to terminate abnormality diagnostic processing at an early period of time.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PLACESHIFTING MEDIA PLAYBACK
Systems and methods of placeshifting media playback between two or more devices are provided. For example, a method for placeshifting media may include downloading onto a first device an index of files accessed or modified on a second device via a data storage server, at least one of the files being a media file played on the second device. The first device may display a user selectable list of the files on the first device before issuing a request for the media file to the data storage server. The data storage server may send the media file to the first device from the data storage server, and the first device may play back the media file where the second device left off.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH EXHAUST GAS AFTERTREATMENT AND CONTROL OF THE NITROGEN OXIDE EMISSIONS
An internal combustion engine (1), with an engine regulating device (3) and an exhaust gas aftertreament device (16) with an SCR catalytic converter (4) for the reduction of at least one NO.sub.x component, and with a catalytic converter regulating device (6), wherein the engine regulating device (3) is prescribed a target value for an NO.sub.x mean value of the NO.sub.x component of the exhaust gases, which mean value results at an outlet point (7) of the exhaust gas aftertreatment device (16) in relation to a predefinable time period, and the engine regulating device (3) is configured at least in one operating mode to continuously calculate an NO.sub.x reference value for the catalytic converter regulating device (6) with consideration of No.sub.x components which have already been emitted and the predefined target value, which reference value is selected in such a way that the predefined target value results at the outlet point of the exhaust gas aftertreatment device (16) at the end of the predefinable time period when the calculated NO.sub.x reference value of the catalytic converter regulating device (6) is fed as NO.sub.x setpoint value to the regulating means.
Systems and methods for diagnosis of NOx storage catalyst
Systems, apparatuses, and methods include an upstream exhaust analysis circuit structured to determine a characteristic of an exhaust gas stream entering a nitrous oxide (NOx) storage catalyst; a prediction circuit structured to predict a downstream NOx concentration of an exhaust gas stream exiting the NOx storage catalyst based on a model of a NOx storage capacity or a dynamic response of the NOx storage catalyst; a downstream exhaust analysis circuit structured to determine a downstream NOx concentration of the exhaust gas stream exiting the NOx storage catalyst; and a comparison circuit structured to compare the predicted downstream NOx concentration to the determined downstream NOx concentration, and determine a health of the NOx storage catalyst based on the comparison.
Method for controlling emissions of nitrogen oxides in exhaust of internal combustion engine
The invention relates to a control method that allows the mean quantity of nitrogen oxides per kilometer covered emitted by a vehicle fitted with an internal combustion engine associated with a post-treatment system to be kept below a predefined fixed threshold, for any journey made by the vehicle. The mean quantity emitted over a fixed elementary distance that has just been covered by the vehicle is calculated iteratively, together with a long-term conformity factor which is equal to the mean quantity emitted over the entire distance covered since the start of the journey. When it is found that the long-term conformity factor is above the threshold, the engine and/or the post-treatment system is regulated in such a way as to obtain, over the next fixed elementary distance, a mean quantity of nitrogen oxides per kilometer that is lower than the threshold value FC, for example equal to 90% of the threshold, whatever the engine operating point. Thus, the long-term conformity factor converges towards the threshold.
