SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE CALIBRATION
Methods and systems are provided for calibrating an effective area associated with an exhaust gas recirculation valve and/or a variable orifice associated with the exhaust gas recirculation valve. In one example, a method may include attaining a first steady-state intake pressure with the exhaust gas recirculation valve closed, determining a second steady-state intake pressure and a differential pressure across the variable orifice with the exhaust gas recirculation valve open, and estimating the variable orifice effective area based on the second steady-state intake pressure and the differential pressure. In this way, a calibration table may be updated for an exhaust gas recirculation control apparatus that includes an exhaust gas recirculation valve and a variable orifice, such that an actual amount of recirculated exhaust gas reflects a commanded amount.

The controller includes: a restoration detector configured to detect that the supply of power from a battery to the controller is restored after the supply of power from the battery to the controller is cut off; and a restoration actuator configured to drive the actuator so that the sealing valve is fully closed or fully opened when the restoration detector detects that the supply of power is restored.
Apparatus for diagnosing EGR valve and method thereof
An apparatus for diagnosing an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve includes: an EGR apparatus including an EGR line connecting an exhaust line and an intake line and an EGR valve installed in the EGR line; an electric supercharger installed in the intake line to change an internal pressure of an intake manifold; a manifold pressure sensor measuring the internal pressure of the intake manifold; and a controller that when an engine is stopped while a vehicle is running, learns on an amount of opening of the EGR valve, diagnoses a fixation of the EGR valve and e a leakage of the EGR valve based on the internal pressure of the intake manifold detected by the manifold pressure sensor.
SMART ACTUATOR LEARN COMMAND PROCESS
A variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) of an engine of a vehicle has a VGT mechanism and a VGT actuator connected to the VGT actuator. A controller is connected to the VGT actuator, and is configured to monitor at least one entry condition such as vehicle battery voltage, voltage at the VGT actuator, temperature of the engine, its oil, and its coolant, and exhaust gas temperature. If the entry conditions are met, the controller performs a learn procedure in which the VGT actuator cycles the VGT mechanism through its range of motion following a key-off shutdown command. The learn procedure may take place immediately preceding, during, or immediately following shutdown of the engine. The VGT actuator then reports to the controller an available range of motion of the VGT actuator and of the VGT mechanism.
Operating method and actuation device for a piston pump
The invention relates to a method for operating a piston pump (10) which is driven by means of a coil (1) of an electromagnet. A piston (2) of the piston pump (10) can be moved in a cylinder (3) for pumping purposes by means of the electromagnet. A voltage (U) is applied to the coil (1) during a switch-on period such that a current flows through the coil (1) and the piston (2) is accelerated, said voltage being applied by means of an actuation device (11). A time curve of an electric state variable (I, U) of the coil (1) is qualitatively detected, and the curve or a curve derived therefrom is analyzed in order to detect an impact of the piston (2) against a stop. The invention further relates to an actuation device and a piston pump.
Method and device for controlling an internal combustion engine supercharged by an exhaust-gas turbocharger
The disclosed embodiments relate to a method and to a device for controlling an internal combustion engine supercharged by an exhaust-gas turbocharger. The method includes: determining the time duration required for a specific internal combustion engine in operation, at a current operating point and with a predefined combination of settings of switching actuators, to perform an increase of the charge pressure from a current charge pressure to a target charge pressure associated with a target operating point; comparing the determined time duration with a multiplicity of stored time durations, which are each assigned to a predefined different combination of the settings of the switching actuators; and controlling the internal combustion engine with that combination of the settings of the switching actuators which permits the quickest increase of the charge pressure to the target charge pressure.
