Control Device and Control Method for Internal Combustion Engine
A control device for an internal combustion engine controls a control object device based on an output value of a relative angle sensor that detects a relative angle of an output shaft of an actuator, and an output value of an absolute angle sensor that detects an absolute angle of a drive shaft coupled to the output shaft of the actuator via a speed reducer. In this event, the control device for the internal combustion engine corrects an output value of the absolute angle sensor based on an absolute angle of the drive shaft that is obtained from an output value of the relative angle sensor using, as a reference point, an output value of the absolute angle sensor at the start-up of the internal combustion engine, and an output value of the absolute angle sensor.
Wastegate valve seat position determination
Various methods for compensating variation in the geometry and position of linkages and valve seats in wastegate assemblies are provided. In one example, a method of operating a wastegate in an internal combustion engine comprises, at engine startup, placing a wastegate valve at a seat, recording a position of the seat and associating the seat position with one or more operating parameters, and modifying a position of a wastegate actuator based on the seat position throughout engine operation.

An internal combustion engine controller for controlling an internal combustion engine is provided. The internal combustion engine controller comprises a memory and a processor. The memory is configured to store a plurality of control maps, each control map defining a hypersurface of actuator setpoints for controlling an actuator of the internal combustion engine based on a plurality of input variables to the internal combustion engine controller. The processor comprises an engine setpoint module and a map updating module. The map updating module is configured to optimise one or more of the hypersurfaces of the control maps at the location defined by the plurality of input variables. The map updating module comprises an optimiser module configured to search for an optimised group of actuator setpoints wherein the map updating module updates the one or more hypersurfaces at the location defined by the plurality of input variables based on the optimised group of actuator setpoints. A method of controlling an internal combustion engine is also provided.

INJECTOR ABNORMAL CYLINDER DIAGNOSIS METHOD AND INJECTOR ABNORMALITY DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM BASED ON SIGNAL DEVIATION
An injector failure cylinder diagnosis method based on signal deviation of an injector failure diagnosis system measures, by a controller, noise/vibration signals due to the combustion of an engine, separates an injector abnormal frequency band signal as an injector signal from the noise/vibration signals, divides cylinder number time series data, which use a signal maximum value of the noise/vibration signals as a cylinder #1, into segments, extracts a feature vector after confirming a segment number of the cylinder #1 with a vibration reduction signal of the noise/vibration signals re-measured using one of the cylinders as an idle cylinder and sorting it by injector causing vibration time series data, and confirms a failure injector with the feature vector, thereby independently diagnosing whether the injector for each cylinder is normal or abnormal considering the deviation of the noise/vibration signals between the injectors for each cylinder from the measured noise and vibration signals.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE CONTROLLER
An internal combustion engine controller for an internal combustion engine comprising a memory and a processor. The memory is configured to store a plurality of control maps, each control map defining a hypersurface of actuator setpoints for controlling an actuator of the internal combustion engine based on a plurality of input variables to the internal combustion engine controller. The processor comprises a map updating module, a parameter updating module and an engine setpoint module. The map updating module is configured to calculate an optimised hypersurface for at least one of the control maps based on a performance objective function of the internal combustion engine, sensor data from the internal combustion engine, and the plurality of input variables, wherein the performance objective function includes parameters. The parameter updating module is configured to update a parameter of the performance objective function upon determining a change in an operating condition of the internal combustion engine. The parameters comprise one or both of: engine parameters associated with an engine model; and cost parameters associated with a cost function. The map updating module is further configured to update the hypersurface of the control map based on the optimised hypersurface. The engine setpoint module is configured to output a control signal to each actuator based on a location on the hypersurface of the respective control map defined by the plurality of input variables.
Engine Control System
An internal combustion engine controller comprising a memory and a processor is provided. The memory is configured to store a plurality of control maps, each control map defining a hypersurface of actuator setpoints for controlling an actuator of the internal combustion engine based on a plurality of input variables to the internal combustion engine controller. The processor comprises an engine setpoint module and a map updating module. The engine setpoint module is configured to output a control signal to each actuator based on a location on the hypersurface of the respective control map defined by the plurality of input variables. The map updating module is configured to calculate an optimised hypersurface for at least one of the control maps. The optimised hypersurface is calculated based on a real-time performance model of the internal combustion engine comprising sensor data from the internal combustion engine and the plurality of input variables. The map updating module further is configured to update the hypersurface of the control map based on the optimised hypersurface. A method of controlling an internal combustion engine is also provided.

Control device
In a control device for an internal combustion engine, a learning map includes at least one partitioned operating region. The at least one partitioned operating region corresponds to at least one of operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. The learning map includes a value of at least one control parameter stored in the at least one partitioned operating region. A control unit controls the internal combustion engine in accordance with the at least one control parameter. An updating unit learns a value of the at least one control parameter for the at least one of the operating conditions, thus performing an updating of the value of the at least one control parameter stored in the at least one partitioned operating region to the learned value. A partition changing unit changes a partition pattern of the learning map.
