Multistage axial flow compressor

A multi-stage axial compressor with an inner wall including a step portion for each of the compressor stages. Each step portion is defined along a respective stage. Each step portion may extend over at least a majority of an axial length of the stage. Each step portion may optionally include a point aligned with a maximum thickness of the airfoil portions of the rotor blades and a point aligned with a maximum thickness of the stator vanes. Adjacent step portions are connected by a transition portion converging toward a central axis of the compressor from the upstream step to the downstream step. Each transition portion has a steeper slope than that of the adjacent step portions. A method of directing flow through a multi-stage axial flow compressor is also discussed.

Air-sending device and refrigeration cycle apparatus

An air-sending device includes a propeller fan, a bell mouth surrounding an outer periphery of the propeller fan, a fan grille disposed downstream of the bell mouth and including a plurality of first crosspieces. An edge of the air outlet of the bell mouth includes a varying portion whose distance from a rotation axis of the propeller fan varies. In a cross-section of any of the plurality of first crosspieces that is perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the any of the plurality of first crosspieces, a virtual line segment connecting an upstream side end portion and a downstream side end portion is defined as a first virtual line segment. At the portions of the plurality of first crosspieces disposed on the inner circumference side of the varying portion, the angle between a virtual line segment parallel to the rotation axis and the first virtual line segment is changed.

System and method for guiding compressible gas flowing through a duct

A guide vane within an annular inlet duct of a gas-turbine engine provides for generating swirl within an annular inlet duct so as to provide for reducing the rate of deceleration of the inlet air flow within the annular inlet duct while providing for diffusion of the meridional component of velocity thereof.

COMPRESSOR PORTED SHROUD WITH PARTICLE SEPARATOR

A ported shroud for a compressor associated with a gas turbine engine includes a primary inlet configured to be in fluid communication with the compressor, and the primary inlet is defined to extend along a central axis of the ported shroud. The ported shroud includes a bellmouth that surrounds the primary inlet, and a port plenum configured to be in fluid communication with the compressor. The port plenum extends along an axis that is transverse to the central axis of the ported shroud and transverse to a direction of fluid flow. The port plenum has a port plenum inlet defined about the axis, and the port plenum inlet is defined through the bellmouth such that a tortuous path is defined to the port plenum inlet. The port plenum including a port plenum outlet downstream from the port plenum inlet configured to be in fluid communication with the compressor.

The impeller can have an impeller hub and a plurality of impeller blades extending radially outward from the impeller hub. The assembly can include an impeller motor configured to rotate the impeller blades about an axis of rotation. A stator can be positioned within the outer housing between the impeller and the outlet of the outer housing. The stator can include a plurality of vanes. The stator vanes can include an upstream edge at the upstream end of the stator, a first surface extending from the upstream edge to the downstream edge of the vane, and a second surface opposite the first surface and extending from the upstream edge to the downstream edge of vane. A plurality of the vanes can have a downstream edge at the outlet of the outer housing.

Axial fan with increased rotor diameter

An axial fan for use with a wall ring plate includes a housing having an inlet region and a rotor. The rotor has an increased rotor diameter compared to a standardised rotor diameter. On the inlet side, the inlet region has a tapered section that narrows in an arched manner in a cross-sectional view from an inlet diameter to a wall ring diameter. The axial width and radial length of the tapered section are formed in a predetermined ratio.
