High retention force fastener
A high retention force fastener for fixing at least two panels together is disclosed. The fastener includes two components. One component is a metal clip and the other is a plastic insert that can be substantially inserted into the metal clip. The metal clip includes a body having opposed panel engagement features extending therefrom, an insertion stop plate spaced apart from the engagement features and plastic insert locking tabs extending from the stop plate. The metal clip is preferably U-shaped and includes two sides joined by a connector. Each of the sides includes a pair of the panel engagement features. The plastic insert includes a head and a leg for insertion into the metal clip. The leg extends from the head. The plastic insert additionally includes metal tab engagement arms extending from and integrally formed with the head for engaging the plastic insert locking tabs of the metal clip.
Collapsible pin
An apparatus includes a first pin half, a second pin half opposite the first pin half, and a center pull pin disposed between the first and second pin halves. The first and second pin halves each include a first end, a second end opposite the first end, a bottom portion proximate the second end, and a middle portion adjacent to the bottom portion. The bottom portion extends in a radial direction a first distance. The middle portion extends in the radial direction a second distance less than the first distance. The center pull pin is removable from between the first and second pin halves. The first and second pin halves are collapsible towards each other when the center pull pin is removed from between the first and second pin halves.
Blind fastener with integrated anti-rotation feature, systems and methods
Fasteners and related systems according to the invention include a collet body having a first part of a two part anti-rotation arrangement and a cylinder body having a second part of the two part anti-rotation arrangement wherein the collet body and the cylinder body are mateably axially translatable with respect to each other, and have the same or similar outer diameter in some embodiments or not in others. A threaded member rotationally engages the collet body and compressively contacts the cylinder body during operation of the fastener to creating a clamping effect. Rotational interference between the first and second parts of the anti-rotation arrangement preferably occurs at sectional face portions of at least the collet body. Resistance to induced rotation of the cylinder body relative to a work piece rotation of the threaded member is preferably provided by a tool engaging a tool interface present on the cylinder body.
Fastener
The present disclosure provides a fastener that has a body that has an axis. The body comprises a head portion and at least one body portion projecting from the head portion. The at least one body portion has an actuating surface portion and is arranged such that at least a part of the at least one body portion is urged away from the axis when an actuating member is received along the axis and urges against the actuating surface portion. The at least one body portion has a substantially flat surface portion facing away from the axis.
Floor panel fastener assembly
A fastener assembly for attaching a floor panel to an airframe is disclosed. The fastener assembly includes a collet, a pin, a capnut, and a subplate. The collet comprises at least one tang, extending from a cylindrical collar that defines a collet aperture. An external thread is formed on the collar, and a tab is formed on a distal end of the tang. The collet tang extends through a floor panel aperture, a subplate aperture, and an airframe aperture, and may interact with a subplate asymmetry. The capnut is screwed onto the collet, such that the pin is forced to slide along the collet tang and the tab is engaged with the airframe.
FASTENING SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR USE
The present disclosure provides an insert of a fastening system. The insert includes (a) a flange, (b) a sidewall extending from the flange and defining a first through-hole, (c) a nut including a first end and a second end and defining a second through-hole, wherein the second end of the nut comprises two or more gripping fingers extending longitudinally from the first end of the nut and separated by two or more slots, and wherein the two or more gripping fingers are flexible in a radial direction and biased to converge inward such that the second through-hole is tapered from the first end of the nut to the second end of the nut, and (d) a stopper coupled to an interior surface of the sidewall and positioned between the first end of the nut and the flange.
FASTENER ASSEMBLY AND METHOD
A fastener assembly is provided. In one embodiment, the fastener assembly includes a panel fastener and a lock pin insertable into the panel fastener to a first position and a second position. The lock pin including a flexible arm configured to upon insertion of the lock pin into the panel fastener in a first direction to the first position, flex inwardly and then outwardly to bring an end surface of the flexible arm into engagement with a panel retention tab of the panel fastener. Upon insertion of the lock pin into the panel fastener in the first direction to the second position, the flexible arm is configured to flex inwardly to allow a retention tab to pass into the panel fastener to bring a retention surface of the lock pin into engagement with a first panel retention surface of the panel fastener.
Interchangeable Fastener System
An interchangeable fastener system for use in combination with a perforated board or other surface on a vertical plane includes a main fastener including a base for supporting the main fastener on the perforated board; the base surrounding a channel defined by an inner surface including opposing ramp surfaces to facilitate tightening of an attachment member, and a mechanical stop adjacent each ramp surface to prevent over rotation of the attachment member; and the attachment member including an elongate member having opposing ends, wherein the elongate member is sized and configured for selective passage through the channel from the front surface through the rear surface and wherein the attachment member may be selectively rotated so that opposing ends of the elongate member are each in engaged abutment against a corresponding one of the opposing ramp surfaces and mechanical stops.
