Anchor
12258985 · 2025-03-25 · ·

An anchor for insertion into an aperture, wherein the anchor includes a body element, two or more elongate engagement members, and a release element. The body element has a first end and an opposed second end, and the body element defines a tapered surface adjacent to a first end portion of the body element. The release element is slidably coupled to the body element. Each of the engagement members has a first end via which the engagement member is coupled to the release element, and a second end which includes a radially outwardly projecting lug. The second ends of the engagement members engage the tapered surface defined by the body element. When the release element is in a release position relative to the body element, the second ends of the engagement members are engaged with a relatively narrow portion of the tapered surface and the lugs are in a radially contracted configuration. When the release element is in an engaged position relative to the body portion, the second ends of the engagement members are engaged with a relatively wide portion of the tapered surface and the lugs are urged radially outwards from the body element by the tapered surface to form a radially expanded configuration.

Blind, bulbing, tacking rivet and method of installation

A tacking fastener for securing workpieces together to form a temporary assembly is provided that includes a stem and a sleeve. The stem includes a proximal end portion, a central portion, and a distal end portion. The stem further includes a head disposed at the proximal end portion, the head defining a distal face having a gripping feature. The sleeve includes a flange disposed at the distal end portion, the flange defining a proximal face having a gripping feature. The sleeve is disposed around the stem and configured to form a tacking rivet upon installation of the tacking fastener. The sleeve is plastically deformed during installation to form a plurality of bulbs, thereby being capable of securing workpieces of varying grip length. The stem and the tacking rivet remain within the workpieces after the workpieces are secured.

Temporally staged rapid panel access fastener for highly curved panels

A fastener for highly curved access panels on aircraft or other structures, featuring a bottom-grasping design allowing for an unblemished outer panel surface, simple and rapid pneumatic fastener actuation, built-in clamping pre-load, and full retractability of the fastener inside the supporting structure. The fastener includes a Belleville spring with a piston centrally disposed therein, where the piston and spring deflect outward upon application of pneumatic pressure. A pressure chamber within the piston has inlet and outlet orifices designed so that the pressure in the piston chamber gradually increases, requiring several seconds to reach a pressure which causes locking dogs in the piston to deploy radially into a cavity in the access panel. When pressure is removed, the Belleville spring relaxes, the locking dogs grasp a lip of the cavity, and the access panel is latched onto the structure with a clamping pre-load. A pneumatic sequence for unlatching is also provided.

Device for holding a bearing member relative to a fixed body
09562568 · 2017-02-07 · ·

A device for holding a bearing member relative to a fixed body, including a first part having a formation for engagement with a corresponding formation on a fixed body to hold the first part relative to the fixed body, and a receiving formation for receiving and slidably supporting a generally elongate second part, wherein a first end of the second part is configured for engagement with a part of a bearing member to hold the bearing member relative to the fixed body, and wherein a second, opposite, end of the second part supports an abutment member which prevents the first and second parts separating from each other, wherein the device includes biasing means for biasing the first end of the second part away from the first part.

ADVANCED LOCK DESIGN FOR BALL-LOCK DEVICES

A ball-lock type fastening device for connecting a work piece to a structure is disclosed. The fastening device includes a number of features designed to improve the reliability, repeatability and strength of the locking mechanism compared to traditional ball-lock fasteners. The features include the shape of the locking balls, the shape of the retention housing which engages the locking balls, and mechanisms for controlling deployment and retraction of the locking balls.

Device for setting a temporary fastener
12275056 · 2025-04-15 · ·

A device for setting a temporary fastener. The temporary fastener includes a body with an expandable/retractable end and a rotary element capable of being driven in rotation so as to cause the expandable/retractable end to expand/retract. The device includes a support module that is able to house a temporary fastener and has a holder for holding the temporary fastening inside the module. The holder is movable between at least: a locking position in which the holder is deployed inside the module so as to cooperate with a temporary fastener placed in the module in order to prevent it from moving in translation inside the module, and a rest position in which the holder is retracted so as to allow a temporary fastener to pass through the module.
