Cap for temporary fastener

A cap for a temporary fastener comprises a hollow, cup-shaped body and an inwardly tapered neck. The hollow body fits over a workpiece-engaging portion of the temporary fastener, and the neck extends from the hollow body. The tapered neck terminates in a hollow tip that is sized and configured to fit over aligned holes in the joined workpieces and to contact a minimal surface area of the outermost workpiece to reduce surface damage to the workpieces such that any damage will be removed when the holes are countersunk in the normal course of assembly.

A screwable device having a retractable threaded section that has a generally tubular shaft extending along a longitudinal axis and having a front section formed with a radially outwardly open aperture and a rear section. At least one locking element comprising a threaded section and being radially displaceable in the aperture between an outer position with the threaded section projecting radially outward from the shaft and an inner position in which the threaded section is recessed within the tubular shaft. An actuating is rod coaxially slidable in the shaft between a front position and a rear position, the actuating rod having a push-button at its rod rear end, the actuating rod having a structure for engaging the locking element in at least one of its positions pressing the locking element into the outer locking position.

Locking pin with protected locking mechanism

A locking pin with a locking mechanism (8, 27, 28) that has a guide sleeve (3) that can be attached to a machine part, and a pin (2) connected to an actuator button (6), which passes through a central bore (14) in the actuator button (6), and which can be axially displaced and secured in a hole in the guide sleeve (3) counter to and by means of the force of a compression spring (7) by actuating the actuator button (6), wherein the pin (2) can be brought into at least two locking positions in the guide sleeve (3) by means of the locking mechanism (8, 27, 28) located in the central bore (17), wherein the locking mechanism (8, 27, 28) is sealed in the central bore (14) of the actuator button (6) in the region of a second guide sleeve (12) that is coaxial to the first guide sleeve (3) and connected thereto, and is composed of a locking sleeve (8) secured to the actuator button (6), the sleeve extension (15) of which forms a locking contour (28) in conjunction with a locking recess (27) located in the region of the second guide sleeve (12).

LOCKING ARRANGEMENT FOR CONNECTING AND INTERLOCKING STRUTS AT A NODE WITHIN A FRAMEWORK
20230167842 · 2023-06-01 ·

A locking arrangement for connecting and interlocking rods at a node within a framework includes connection rods and a central node bearing to be engaged from different directions by each of the connection rods at respective mounting ports through plugging each connection rod onto a respective mounting port. The central node bearing is configured with at least one locking element at each mounting port to be actuated between a locked state, in which the at least one locking element resides in an outward position and the respective connection rod plugged onto the respective mounting port is clutched to the central node bearing by the at least one locking element, and an unlocked locked state, in which the at least one locking element resides in an inward position and the respective connection rod is released from the central node bearing.

SINGLE SIDE TEMPORARY FASTENER WITH CONSTANT PRESSURE FEATURE
20170307002 · 2017-10-26 · ·

A single side temporary fastener (SSTF) capable of maintaining a clamping force in a material stack subject to material creep or adjunct extrusion during clamp up processes is disclosed. The SSTF comprise a rotationally constrained but freely translatable collet body that is disposed within an auxiliary structure such as a fastener housing. A fastener comprises the aforementioned collet body, which at least partially translates within the aforementioned auxiliary structure, and further comprises a threaded screw for rotationally engaging with the collet body, which by way of an anti-rotation means associated therewith and with the auxiliary structure, is rotationally constrained but is free to axially translate. Constant clamping pressures are made possible in such embodiments by the inclusion of at least one biasing element between compression force transmitting elements and/or assemblies of the fasteners.

SELF-LOCKING PIN
20220056939 · 2022-02-24 · ·

A self-locking pin having a shaft, a headed end, and plunger biased in a bore in the pin. The portion of the detent or plunger that extends outwardly from the bore may be wedge-shaped, or possess other geometrical shapes, while the portion of the plunger disposed inside the bore is of a cylindrical shape or other geometrical shapes. The plunger comprises a plunger section and a biasing section in a unitary one-piece construction. At least one transition ledge is defined on the plunger. The shaft is staked at points along the perimeter of the bore so that the inwardly extending surface created by the staking abuts the transition ledge and prevents the plunger from rotating or being removed from the bore.

ONE PIECE SCREWS FOR, AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING, BLIND SIDE FASTENERS AND SYSTEMS WITH FREE SPIN FEATURE

Fastener embodiments of the invention comprise a freely translatable collet body, which at least partially translates within an auxiliary structure, and further comprise a captive threaded screw for rotationally engaging with the collet body to transform rotational movement into translational movement through substantial arresting of collet body rotation by way of an anti-rotation means. The screw comprises a free-spin feature that functionally, but not physically, decouples a drive tool from the collet body.

MARKING APPARATUS AND KIT FOR BLIND MOUNT ALIGNMENT

A marking apparatus facilitates blind mounting of an object to a mounting surface in a desired alignment using the object as an alignment template. One end of the apparatus is configured to be affixed to a mounting slot or edge of the object, then the other end used to mark the appropriate supporting fastener location on the mounting surface. The object's mounting slots or edges may be represented by mounting hardware components that are flush with, recessed in, or protruding from the local planar surface of the object. To accommodate a broad variety of mounting conditions and mounting hardware, certain embodiments of the apparatus may include selectively adjustable or interchangeable head adapters, distinct head and retention configurations and/or a hardware relief channel. A channel adapter is disclosed for use with embodiments of the apparatus having a hardware relief channel. Embodiments of a slot-securable point marking tool are also disclosed.
