BALL JOINT AND HOUSING OF BALL JOINT
A housing and a ball joint including the housing are provided. The housing includes a holding part which holds an end portion of a dust cover and which can be formed at a low cost by deforming only a deformed part reliably without requiring additional process. A receiving part is provided on an upper end side of a housing body. A deformed part is provided at an upper end portion of the housing body to be adjacent to the receiving part. A sum of an angle of the outer peripheral surface of the receiving part relative to an axis-perpendicular direction of the housing body and an angle of the outer peripheral surface of the deformed part relative to the axis-perpendicular direction is set to be less than 180.
BALL JOINT
The ball joint includes: a ball stud including: a shaft member; and a ball portion formed at one end of the shaft member; and a holder made of a synthetic resin and configured to accommodate the ball portion in a pivotable manner. The holder includes: an opening portion from which the shaft member protrudes; a first member including a first ball sliding contact surface having a concave spherical shape approximate to a spherical surface of the ball portion; and a second member including: a second ball sliding contact surface having a concave spherical shape approximate to the spherical surface of the ball portion; and the opening portion formed in a center of the second ball sliding contact surface. Further, the first member and the second member respectively include joining surfaces fixed to each other by welding, and respectively include fixation reference surfaces that are brought into abutment against each other.
SPHEROIDIAL JOINT FOR COLUMN SUPPORT IN A TUNED MASS DAMPER SYSTEM
A spheroidal joint for a tuned mass damper system includes a base having a concave seat and a lubricious liner secured thereto. The base defines a first mounting portion under the concave seat and a circumferential rim opposite the first mounting portion. The concave seat tapers radially outward to define a chamfer which terminates at a radially inner edge of the rim. The spheroidal joint includes an inner member that has a convex seat. The inner member has a second mounting portion extending from the convex seat and an indentation circumferentially extending around the inner member between the convex seat and the second mounting portion. The indentation cooperates with the chamfer for misalignment of the inner member relative to the base. The convex seat slidingly engages the lubricious liner.
BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF MAKING
A ball joint assembly includes a ball stud, a generally cylindrical bearing, a housing and a retainer which retains the bearing in the housing, The generally cylindrical bearing has an upper end, a lower end, a generally cylindrical exterior sidewall, an upper flange located between the upper end and a ring groove formed in the exterior sidewall, a lower flange proximate the lower end and extending outwardly from the exterior sidewall and a socket cavity that opens toward the lower end. The ball portion of the ball stud is engaged in and retained within the socket cavity. The bearing is secured within the housing in a bore within the housing by virtue of the working of the lower flange which is located within a counterbore of the housing and the upper flange and retainer located in the ring groove. Ball joints of the type described are able to resist a pull-out force of greater than 650 lbs and up to about 1200 lbs. They may also be sealed by incorporation of a dust boot which is attached to extends between the housing and the stud portion of the ball stud.
Ball joint assembly for vehicle, stabilizer link including same, and method for manufacturing ball joint assembly for vehicle
A ball joint assembly for a vehicle includes a mounting part including an inner circumference part forming a hole in a vertical direction; a ball stud including a ball and a stud extending from the ball; a bearing coupled to surround the ball and disposed in the hole; and an insert molding part for filling the space of the hole formed between the inner circumference part and the outer surface of the bearing. The inner circumference part includes at least one upper protruding part protruding from an upper area thereof in a direction toward a central axis of the hole and at least one lower protruding part protruding from a lower area thereof in a direction toward the central axis.
Ball joint for a chassis of a vehicle, and method for producing such a ball joint
A ball joint (1, 37) for a chassis of a vehicle has an inner joint portion (4) and a one-piece slide bearing (10) made of plastic. A joint ball (35) of the inner joint portion (4) is fitted so that it can swivel in a ball-bearing section (16). The slide bearing (10) has a holding section (12, 38) for the arrangement of a sensor element (13, 39). In order to simplify the structure and/or assembly of the ball joint (1, 37), the outside of the slide bearing (10) has a circular-ring-shaped contact surface (20) which is formed coaxially relative to a central longitudinal axis (19) of the slide bearing (10) and which co-operates with a separate closure ring (9) surrounding the outside of the slide bearing (10) to fix the slide bearing (10) in a joint housing (3).
BEARING SHELL FOR A BALL JOINT, BALL JOINT AND CHASSIS COMPONENT WITH SUCH A BEARING SHELL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE BEARING SHELL
A bearing shell (2) for a ball joint (1) includes a shell component (11) made from a first material, such that the shell component (11) has a ball segment shaped receiving space (6) into which a joint ball (4) is fitted and can swivel. An inner side (12) of the shell component (11) is coated with a second material to form a low-friction layer (13). To improve the sliding friction properties between the joint ball (4) and the bearing shell (2) and to reduce the friction between them, the bearing shell (2) is characterized in that the second material is parylene.
Joint component
A joint component includes a ball joint with a joint housing that defines a stud opening and a measurement port opposite the stud opening in an axial direction. A ball stud includes a joint ball movably fitted in the joint housing, where the joint ball faces toward the measurement port and the ball stud extends out of the housing through the stud opening. A component body includes a joint-holding housing that defines a joint opening and has a base opposite the joint opening in the axial direction. The joint housing is inserted into the component body with its measurement port facing toward the base. An angle measurement device has an angle sensor to capture a signal that characterizes an angular position of the ball stud relative to the joint housing. The angle measurement device can hold the angle sensor in a sensor holder between the base and the joint housing.
Enhanced ball joint with rotation sensor
A ball joint contains a body and a pin having a first threaded end and a second spherical end which is rotatably arranged within a seat of the body. The pin cooperates with a first spherical-cap-shaped element inserted within a further seat having a corresponding shape of a second spherical-cap-shaped element cooperating with a covering element to close the spherical end of the pin within the body. The second spherical end of the pin and the first and second spherical-cap-shaped elements include pairs of recesses and ridges in the contact areas for reciprocally compenetrating, the pairs of recesses and ridges being arranged at 90 to each other to allow rotation of the pin along all axes in the body. An angular movement sensor integral with the body of the joint cooperates with the second spherical-cap-shaped element to detect rotation of the pin.
DUST BOOT AND SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE DUST BOOT
