A grinder is provided that generally comprises a rotor that is at least partially disposed within a housing. Materials such as tobacco, herb, spices, or food is loaded into the housing, and a user turns the rotor relative to the housing to drive protrusions such as blades extending from a shaft of the rotor into the tobacco, herb, spices, or food. This grinds the contents into smaller pieces. A funnel portion at a lower end of the grinder can dispense the smaller, ground pieces for subsequent use. Some embodiments of the grinder include a rotatable sleeve to selectively open and close access to the housing of the grinder. Various embodiments of the grinder include a divider and an auger to allow only sufficiently ground pieces of contents to be dispensed from the grinder.

A method of processing tobacco fines into a non-continuous tobacco material, the method including providing a pre-sized tobacco stem material that has a Dp90 particle size of less than 3 mm and a Dp50 particle size of less than 2 mm. The method also includes combining the pre-sized tobacco stem material with tobacco fines to provide a tobacco initial material, and processing the initial material by setting the initial material to a predefined increased moisture content, subjecting the initial material to an increase in temperature and subjecting the initial material an increased pressure in order to bind the tobacco fines to the tobacco stem material. There is also provided a non-continuous tobacco material produced by the method, a component for a delivery system including non-continuous tobacco material produced by the method, a product and a smoking article including the component.

A device for loading and forming smoking articles has a body section. A first socket is formed in a top area of the body section. A second socket is formed in a bottom area of the body section. A plurality of channels is formed in a bottom area of the first socket and each configured to hold a smoking article. A plate is rotatable within the first socket to allow one to align a desired number of a plurality of openings with corresponding channels of the plurality of channels. A pin member secures the plate in position. A cap is insertable into the first socket when loading the smoking articles and into the second socket to push the smoking articles out of the channels when loaded.

When the cap is closed, the blade and propeller grinds material placed in the chamber and pull air down toward the blade and propeller. When the cap is opened, the blade and propeller function as a fan to generate airflow toward the top of the chamber to dispense ground material out of the chamber. The grinder can also include a microcontroller, a communications device, an infrared volume sensor, a scale, an audible buzzer, a vibration buzzer, and one or more sanitizing LED lights.
