METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MAKING A FILTER ELEMENT
There is disclosed a method for making a filter element comprising the steps of: advancing two or more sheets of filtering material in a longitudinal direction; separating the two or more sheets of longitudinally advancing filtering material; gathering the separated sheets of longitudinally advancing filtering material to form a partially gathered rod of filtering material having a longitudinally extending recess; inserting an additive release vessel into the longitudinally extending recess; gathering the filtering material around the additive release vessel to close the recess and thereby form a rod comprising a longitudinally extending core of filtering material and one or more additive release vessels.
Cigarette filter tow band
Provided is a material (cigarette component) that enables the elimination or minimization of illicit cigarette production. Specifically, related is a cigarette filter tow band including a crimped bundle of filaments. The tow band includes a detectable marker for identifying the source of the tow band.
A FEEDING DEVICE FOR FEEDING A CONTINUOUS STRIP INTO A CONTINUOUS FIBROUS BAND IN A TOBACCO INDUSTRY MACHINE FOR MANUFACTURING ROD-LIKE ELEMENTS AND A MACHINE FOR MANUFACTURING ROD-LIKE ELEMENTS
A feeding device (8, 8, 8, 8) for feeding a continuous strip (9) into a continuous fibrous band, in a tobacco industry machine for manufacturing rod-like elements, wherein the fibrous band is formed to a form of a continuous rod (CR) comprising the continuous strip (9) surrounded by the continuous fibrous band, the feeding device (8, 8, 8, 8) comprising: a strip supply unit (10) for feeding the continuous strip (9); a strip feeding unit (11) for feeding the continuous strip (9) into the middle of the continuous fibrous band; wherein the feeding device (8, 8, 8, 8) is configured such that the strip feeding unit (11) is located in the machine for manufacturing the rod-like elements between a fibrous band preparation unit (4) and a garniture unit (15) for forming the continuous rod. The feeding device (8, 8, 8, 8) further comprises: a feeding wheel (7), having a circumferential surface (20) comprising a cylindrical guiding surface (20A) for guiding the continuous strip (9); and guiding surfaces (21A; 22A; 31A; 32A; 41A; 42A; 51A; 52A). The guiding surfaces (21A; 22A; 31A; 32A; 41A; 42A; 51A; 52A) and the cylindrical guiding surface (20A) form a duct for guiding the continuous strip (9).
Cigarette Tip
A backing with corrugations on a first surface. The corrugations are parallel and each has an airspace along an entire longitudinal length. A second surface of the backing includes perforations or scores oriented perpendicularly or parallel to the corrugations. The corrugations or scores are fold lines or frangible tear lines. The airspaces may also include a filter material. The second surface of the backing may be adhered to a corner of a rolling paper on the surface but opposite edge as a gum strip. The corrugations are parallel to the gum strip.
Filter
A filter for a cigarette comprises a porous fitter rod and a material sheet wrapped around the filter rod and a cellulose acetate thread formed from substantially uncrimped cellulose acetate filaments. The cellulose acetate thread is positioned within the filter rod and extends along the central axis of the filter rod.
NOVEL FILTER SEGMENT INCLUDING A SUBSTRATE LOADED WITH A SMOKE-MODIFYING AGENT
A filter segment for use in a filter of a smoking article includes a substrate loaded with at least one smoke-modifying agent. The substrate is located within the body of the filter segment and is formed from filter plug wrap having an air permeability ranging from about 6,000 Coresta units to about 24,000 Coresta units.
Filter Comprising A Paper Substrate Modified With A Natural Polysaccharide
The present invention relates to a filter comprising a paper substrate modified by a natural polysaccharide.
Filter Comprising a Paper Substrate Modified With Natural Starch
The present invention relates to filter comprising a paper substrate modified with natural starch.
Rod for a smoking article and method and apparatus for manufacture
A filter rod for a cigarette or other smoking article comprising a filter plug having a plurality of threads extending through at least part of the filter plug, and an apparatus and method for manufacturing such a filter rod.
Filter segment including a substrate loaded with a smoke-modifying agent
A filter segment for use in a filter of a smoking article includes a substrate loaded with at least one smoke-modifying agent.
