A fuel injection device is provided with a valve body, a nozzle needle, a movable plate, and a support spring. The valve body has a control chamber therein. The control chamber is defined by a defining wall which has a dividing wall portion. The dividing wall portion divides the control chamber into an accommodation chamber and a backpressure chamber. The accommodation chamber accommodates a movable plate and a support spring. A fuel pressure in the backpressure chamber is applied to the nozzle needle. The dividing wall portion has a restriction hole fluidly connecting the accommodation chamber and the backpressure chamber with each other, and a support surface supporting the support spring.

Methods and systems are provided for moving an injector needle of a fuel injector assembly from a first position to a second position to provide a first fuel injection at the first position, and moving the needle from the second position to the third position to provide a second fuel injection at the third position, and moving the needle back to the first position via the second position, and providing a third fuel injection at the second position. In this way, three fuel injections may be performed during a single actuation cycle of the injector during a single combustion cycle.

Fuel injection device

A fuel injection valve having a variable stroke mechanism is constructed. A valve body provided to be slidable; a first movable element for cooperating with the valve body; an inner fixed iron core provided at a position to oppose a second movable element; an outer fixed iron core; and a coil are included. A lift amount of the second movable element is set larger than a lift amount of the first movable element, and a portion of the second movable element is projected into the first movable element. In this way, large and small lifts are constituted by using a difference between magnetic attractive forces that are generated in the first movable element and the second movable element by a current supplied to the coil.
