Machine and method for producing substantially cylindrical articles of the tobacco processing industry

A method of producing filter tips for cigarettes, each of which comprises two portions of filter material arranged on opposite ends of a portion of granular material; the first portion of filter material is wrapped in a sheet so as to obtain an intermediate element having a substantially tubular shape and an open end; the granular material and the second portion of filter material are then inserted through the open end, while the intermediate element is kept vertical with the open end facing upwards; in this way it is possible to obtain high quality filter tips at high speed.

SMOKE AND VAPOR FILTER DEVICE
20200060332 · 2020-02-27 ·

A reusable smoke and vapor filter device having particular application to be held against the lips of a smoker to receive smoke or vapor that is blown into the device from the lungs of the smoker. The filter device includes a replaceable filter casing within which a disposable compound filter is carried by which a majority of the smoke or vapor is trapped and absorbed. By virtue of the foregoing, the presence of smoke or vapor that would otherwise be exhausted into the atmosphere is avoided. The filter casing can be removed from the reusable filter device and replaced with a new filter casing having a new compound filter without having to discard the entire device. The compound filter carried by the filter casing includes activated carbon granules to absorb the smoke and vapor and an oil soaked material having a fragrance to deodorize the smoke or vapor.

Flavor capsule for enhanced flavor delivery in cigarettes

Improved delivery of additive materials to cigarettes is provided through the use of one or more capsules containing additive materials, such as flavor components, in the filter section of a cigarette. The sealed capsule or capsules are subjected to an external force, such as squeezing, by a smoker prior to or during smoking of the cigarette in order to release at least a portion of the additive material from the one or more capsules and expose the additive material to mainstream smoke passing through the filter. The sealed capsules provide a barrier between the additive materials and other cigarettes components, such as sorbents or filter materials, in order to reduce additive material migration into the other cigarette components prior to desired use.

Filters For Smoking Articles For Less Additive(s) Loss

Improvements are provided in filters for use in smoking articles, including the use of randomly oriented discrete fibres. The improvements mainly relate to the loss of additive(s) in said filters and to the manufacture thereof. In one embodiment, a filter for a smoking article includes randomly oriented discrete fibres and at least one particulate additive, the at least one particulate additive being dispersed within the filter, wherein a value obtained by dividing a volume fraction of the at least one particulate additive by a volume fraction of the fibres is less than about 1100%.

Filters for smoking articles having high additive(s) loadings

The present invention relates to improvements in filters, for use in smoking articles, comprising randomly oriented discrete fibres, wherein a loss of particulate additives can be reduced by adding a liquid with a viscosity of at least 2000 m Pa*s at 20 C. and normal pressure.

COOLANT FOR HEAT-NOT-BURN TOBACCO, HEAT-NOT-BURN TOBACCO, AND ELECTRICALLY HEATED TOBACCO PRODUCT

Provided is a coolant for heat-not-burn tobacco, which comprises a polyhydric alcohol and a porous granular base material, wherein the polyhydric alcohol is impregnated into the granular base material.

SMOKING ARTICLE FILTER WITH AMORPHOUS MAGNESIUM CARBONATE

A filter for a smoking article includes filtration material and an amorphous magnesium carbonate material contained within the filtration material. A smoking article includes a smokable material and the filter downstream of the smokable material.

Nozzle for manufacturing flavor capsule of tobacco

A method for manufacturing a flavor capsule of tobacco according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may comprise: a membrane manufacturing step for manufacturing a membrane of a flavor capsule by a membrane manufacturing part that manufactures a membrane; a capsule manufacturing step for manufacturing the flavor capsule using an apparatus for manufacturing a capsule with the membrane manufactured during the membrane manufacturing step and a flavored liquid to be held in the membrane; and a hardening step for hardening the flavor capsule.

AEROSOL-COOLING ELEMENT AND ARRANGEMENTS FOR USE WITH APPARATUS FOR HEATING A SMOKABLE MATERIAL
20190320725 · 2019-10-24 ·

Aerosol-cooling elements for use with an apparatus for heating smokable material are disclosed. In one example, the element is a rod having a first end and a second end and comprising at least one tube within the rod, with the at least one tube extending between the first end and the second end so as to provide a through hole extending between the first end and the second end of the rod.

SMOKING ARTICLE USING A CONTINUOUS STRUCTURE OF AN ENCAPSULATED MATERIAL

A method for providing an encapsulated flavorant or chemesthetic agent in a smoking article includes forming an emulsion including: (i) a first aqueous solution, comprising one or more cross-linkable polysaccharides; and (ii) a hydrophobic additive comprising one or more flavorants or chemesthetic agents. The method also includes extruding the emulsion into a second aqueous solution in the form of an elongated structure, cross-linking at least a portion of the one or more cross-linkable polysaccharides, removing the cross-linked elongated structure from the second aqueous solution, introducing the cross-linked elongated structure into a filter, or into a rod including a smoking composition, or both; and forming the filter or the rod of the smoking composition into a smoking article. The method can include a drying step.
