The roller cages include a plurality of rollers. The plurality of rollers includes at least two rollers that are offset from other rollers of the plurality of rollers. The nose portion may include a first portion that is selectively attachable to a second portion.
Single groove single-sided fastener and installation method thereof
A single groove single-sided fastener comprises: a rivet consisting of a rivet head, a polish rod, a locking groove, a tail pulling groove and a tail tooth in sequence, and a lantern ring consisting of a sleeve and a dead head; a tail of the rivet is of a single groove short-tail structure, a ratio of a length of the tail pulling groove to a total length of the tail tooth is 0.1˜1.5, an included angle between a bottom generatrix of the tail pulling groove and an axis of the rivet is −30°˜−0°, two axial ends of the bottom of the tail pulling groove and the tail of the tail tooth are of a fillet transition structure, a ratio of a length of a straight part of the tail tooth to the total length of the tail tooth is 0.1˜1.
TWO-PIECE BLIND FASTENER AND INSTALLATION TOOL
A tool for installing a blind fastener including a bolt and a nut includes a base, collet, socket assembly, drive body, and mode clutch. The collet is coupled to the base and disposed about an axis. The collet can selectively engage a portion of the nut. The socket assembly includes a socket housing and a plurality of rollers. The socket housing is rotatable relative to the collet and defines a bore disposed about the axis. The rollers are spaced circumferentially about the axis. A surface of each roller can engage a cylindrical portion of the bolt within the bore to rotate the bolt about the axis. The drive body is coupled to the socket housing and configured to rotate the socket housing about the axis relative to the base. The mode clutch is configured to selectively couple the socket housing with the collet for common rotation about the axis.
AMORPHOUS METAL RIVET SYSTEMS
A family of rivets including both blind and bucked-type rivets made at least partially from an amorphous metal alloy. A blind rivet includes a head portion and a tail portion. At least one of the head portion and the tail portion is configured to elastically deform to secure a first member in position relative to a second member. The head portion and the tail portion may include one or more deformable legs having an interface feature configured to engage with one of the first member and the second member. A bucked-type rivet assembly includes a formable member and an anvil. The anvil is configured to thermoplastically deform the formable member proximate to the second member by passing current through an electrical circuit that includes at least one of the formable member and anvil.
BLIND FASTENER
A method includes inserting a machining tool through a hole of at least one workpiece that includes a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface and extends from the first surface to the second surface. The hole forms an inner wall. The machining tool includes a shaft and a cutting tip proximate to one end of the shaft. The cutting tip includes a cutting portion. The method includes positioning the cutting portion of the cutting tip to abut an edge of the hole. The edge is located at a junction of the second surface of the one of the at least one workpiece and the inner wall. The method includes forming a surface modification at the edge with the cutting tip. The method includes removing the machining tool from the hole. The method includes installing a fastener within the hole. The fastener engages the surface modification.
Rivet module and joining structure and method using the same
A rivet module is provided to join at least two sheets of base materials in a solid state, the rivet module including: i) a shank portion to be mounted on a reciprocal and rotatable joining tool; ii) a base material friction portion that is integrally connected to the shank portion and drills through the base materials as the joining tool causes the base material friction portion to be rotated while applying pressure to the base materials; and iii) a base material fastening portion that is fixedly fitted to the shank portion, supports the base material friction portion, and is fastened to the base materials through a thread formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof.
Spark containment cap
A spark containment cap for forming a sealed cavity around an end of a fastener protruding from a structure is disclosed having a cap body with an annular base terminating at a rim which surrounds an opening into an air cavity arranged to enclose the end of the fastener. An annular sealing volume extends around the rim arranged to receive an annular bead of a curable sealing material around the opening into the cavity to provide a seal between the cap body and the structure to seal a volume of gas within the cavity. An engaging feature is configured to engage with the end of the fastener to prevent rotation of the fastener relative to the cap when the end of the fastener is received by the cap. A fastening system, a joint, an aircraft and a method of securing a fastener and a spark containment cap to a structure are also disclosed.
Sealing Plug for Closing Holes in Walls and the Like
According to one embodiment a sealing plug is provided that includes an elastic body and a stem assembled coaxially with respect to one another. The elastic body is suitable for being expanded radially by pulling on the free end of the stem, which projects out of the elastic body, once it is inserted into the hole to be plugged, the elastic body applying a closing pressure against the hole. The sealing plug also comprises an empty space, arranged between the elastic body and the stem, which is communicated with the outside, such that the entrance of fluid into the elastic body is allowed so that the fluid applies pressure against the elastic body, thereby increasing the closing pressure applied by the elastic body against the hole.
Hollow board
Tips of sections in a spreading state come into contact with vertical wall portions of a middle member at positions between a first plate-like member and center portions of the vertical wall portions in the thickness direction. Then, the sections break through the vertical wall portions, and are fastened to a hollow laminated board. Thus, a mounting bracket is attached to the hollow laminated board. This makes it possible to obtain a deck board with a small recessed portion formed in a top face.
