BLIND FASTENER WITH A SLOTTED EXPANSION BODY
A fastener includes a bolt, a body, a sleeve, and a nut. The bolt is disposed through the body, the sleeve, and the nut. The body abuts the sleeve. The sleeve abuts the nut. The body includes grooves formed in an end near the sleeve. The sleeve is deformed and forced into the grooves. Rotation of the sleeve relative the body is arrested or reduced without formation of stress risers or splits.
INTERNAL POSITIVE STOP, BREAK-OFF FLUSHNESS IN BLIND FASTENERS
A blind fastener includes a core bolt and a core nut. The core bolt has a threaded section, a non-threaded section, a bolt head, and a stop shoulder. The non-threaded section is disposed axially between the threaded section and the bolt head. The stop shoulder is disposed axially between the threaded section and the non-threaded section. The core nut surrounds the core bolt and is threadably engaged with the threaded section of the core bolt. The core nut has an internal positive stop extending radially inward from an inner surface of the core nut. The positive stop of the core nut opposes the stop shoulder and cooperates with the stop shoulder to inhibit further tightening of the core bolt when the blind fastener is in a completely installed condition.
Removable blind fastener for joining components
The present invention provides a removable blind fastener 2 having a first tubular element 4 comprising an arm portion 24, 26, 28, a second tubular element 6 comprising an arm portion 30, 31, 32, and an elongate screw member 8. The elements are arranged in telescoping relationship one with the other and which fastener, when in use as a temporary fastener, is caused to secure the component parts of an airframe by causing telescoping movement of the elements towards each other when the screw member is turned in one direction and is caused to release the component parts of the airframe by causing telescoping movement of the elements away from each other when the screw member is turned in an opposite direction. The arm portions of the elements are located in mutual juxtaposition for telescoping movement upon rotation of the screw member as aforesaid with end portions of elongate arms of the arm portions being brought into engagement with tapered sills 34, 36 of the first tubular element whereby the arms are caused to splay outwardly to bring the end portions into engagement with an underside of the component and moving the component into secure temporary relationship with the component of the airframe.
THREADED BLIND FASTENER AND SPACER ASSEMBLY AND METHODS FOR THE ASSEMBLY AND USE THEREOF
A threaded blind fastener and spacer assembly is provided, the assembly including a blind fastener having a flange; and a spacer having a surface, said spacer having a hole therethrough, said hole terminating as a counterbore at said surface, said counterbore receiving said flange. Methods of preparing the assembly and a method of securing the threaded blind fastener and spacer assembly to a substrate material are also provided.
Fastener and fastener installation tool
A fastening system including a fastener and a fastener installation tool. The fastener includes a pin member having an elongated shank portion with a threaded portion, a stop shoulder located at an end of the threaded portion, and a pull portion extending from the stop shoulder. The stop shoulder includes an outer rim and an inner annular wall. The inner annular wall and the inner face form an annular recess. The fastener installation tool includes a puller having a front face. The recess of the fastener is adapted to receive the front face of the fastener installation tool when the puller engages the pull portion of the pin member and facilitates alignment of teeth of the installation tool and pull grooves of the pin member.
FASTENER SYSTEM WITH EXPANDABLE RING
A fastener system is provided that includes a spindle bolt having a threaded section and a tooling interface at a head, a bolt body at least partially mated with the spindle bolt, including an anti-rotation slot and an outer surface, a nut including an interior threaded portion and an anti-rotation extension, and an expandable ring mated with the nut and including a lower clamping surface. In a clamping configuration of the fastener system, the lower clamping surface extends beyond the outer surface of the bolt body, the interior threaded portion of the nut is threadingly engaged with the threaded section of the spindle bolt, and the anti-rotation extension mates with the anti-rotation slot. In an installation configuration of the fastener system, a diameter of the lower clamping surface is less than a diameter of the lower clamping surface in the clamping configuration.
Fastener and method of installing same
A fastener includes a body having deformable first end, a second end, and a passage extending through the body between the first and second ends. The fastener further includes a corebolt having first and second ends and a region of reduced diameter disposed between the first and second ends and a sleeve having first and second ends, the second end having a bulbing portion. The corebolt is disposed within the sleeve and the body with the first end of the corebolt in engagement with the first end of the sleeve and the first end of the body disposed adjacent the second end of the sleeve. The bulbing portion is adapted to form an enlarged blind head when the corebolt is rotated in relation to the sleeve. The first end of the body is adapted to deform radially inwardly into the region of reduced diameter.
Rivet sleeve and blind rivet with a rivet sleeve
A rivet sleeve of a blind rivet for connecting at least one die-head-side component to a closing-head-side component, the rivet sleeve having a sleeve shank including a sleeve shank end. An elastic sleeve die head is arranged at an end of the sleeve shank opposite the sleeve shank end for ensuring a minimum clamping force between at least the die-head-side component and the closing-head-side component in a closed state of the blind rivet, the sleeve die head. The sleeve die head extend around the sleeve shank radially around the extension axis of the sleeve shank. At least two recesses spaced a distance apart in the lateral surface of the sleeve die head.
The arm portions of the elements are located in mutual juxtaposition for telescoping movement upon rotation of the screw member as aforesaid with end portions of elongate arms of the arm portions being brought into engagement with tapered sills 34, 36 of the first tubular element whereby the arms are caused to splay outwardly to bring the end portions into engagement with an underside 12a of the component and moving the component into secure temporary relationship with the component of the airframe.
