A rivet may include a pin comprising: a threaded portion (36), a shank (38) and a head (40); and a bushing (32) comprising an essentially cylindrical body, said body comprising a deformation zone designed to form an external bulge (80); a collar (70) designed to receive the head of the pin; and a tapped portion (66) designed to engage with the threaded portion of the pin. The shank (38) of the pin comprises a first cylindrical portion (44) and a second cylindrical portion (46) connected by a shoulder (48), the first portion being adjacent to the head and having a first diameter, the second portion being adjacent to the threaded portion and having a second, smaller diameter.

Tool and associated method for installing a blind fastener

A tool for installing a blind fastener. The tool includes a retention member and a gripping member that defines a longitudinal axis and is moveable relative to the retention member along the longitudinal axis, the gripping member further defining a receiving cavity that is elongated along the longitudinal axis, an axial opening into the receiving cavity, and a radial opening into the receiving cavity. The tool also includes a contact element at least partially received in the radial opening and a locking collar moveable relative to the gripping member along the longitudinal axis between at least a first position and a second position. In the first position the locking collar engages the contact element and urges at least a portion of the contact element into the receiving cavity. In the second position the locking collar is disengaged from the contact element.

A blind fastener for connecting panels includes a bolt and nut. The bolt includes a shaft, bolt head, and lug. The bolt head is between the shaft and lug. The shaft defines external threads opposite the bolt head. The lug includes a first tool engagement portion and first frangible portion that connects the lug and bolt head. The nut includes a sleeve, nut head, and handling member. A central bore of the sleeve receives the shaft and defines internal threads mated with the external threads. The nut head is between the handling member and sleeve. The nut head extends radially from the sleeve and defines a recess that receives the bolt head. The handling member surrounds a portion of the lug. The handling member includes a second frangible portion and a second tool engagement portion. The second frangible portion couples the second tool engagement portion to the nut head.

DEFORMABLE SLEEVE NUT AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING

Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a deformable sleeve nut that includes selectively strain hardening only a first portion of a material blank while not strain hardening a second portion of the material blank, then, after strain hardening the first portion of the material blank, internally threading the first portion of the material blank to define a nut portion and machining the second portion of the material blank to define a deformable sleeve portion that includes an end portion and a bulbing portion positioned between the end portion and the nut portion, where the bulbing portion is constructed to bulb outwardly and form a load bearing flange when the bulbing portion is compressed between the end portion and the nut portion. Also disclosed is a deformable sleeve nut made with this process.

Grooved nut for blind fastening, rivet and assembly comprising such a nut

A nut (32) for assembling elements of a structure comprises a collar (64) capable of coming into contact with a front face of the structure; a tightening zone having an outer diameter (86) capable of being inserted into a hole of the structure; a deformation zone adjacent to the tightening zone and capable of forming a bulge against a rear face of the structure, opposite the front face; and a tapped portion (65) adjacent to the deformation zone. The nut may include grooving (82) on an outer circumference of at least one part of the deformation zone, a maximum diameter of said grooving (82) being less than or equal to the outer diameter (86) of the tightening zone.
