Ball joint with a loading-optimized ball shell
09841051 · 2017-12-12 · ·

A ball joint, in particular for a wheel suspension of a motor vehicle, with a housing. A joint ball is arranged inside the housing and a ball shell is arranged therebetween. The outer surface of the joint ball contacts the inner surface of the housing and on its inner surface against the surface of the ball, such that the ball shell holds the joint ball so that it can move by sliding. The shell is elastic such that when a force acts upon the ball joint, the joint ball can move relative to the housing. As viewed in at least one cross-section plane passing through the mid-point of the ball, the ball shell has a radial thickness that varies, in the circumferential direction, in such manner that the force acting on the ball shell in the circumferential direction is distributed uniformly, particularly over enlarged areas thereof.

BALL PIN CONNECTOR

A ball pin connector includes a sleeve-like housing having a cavity with an elastic ball bearing. The elastic ball bearing is axially moveable between a lifted up position, and a lower locking position. Cooperating surface structures are provided on an inner wall of the housing and on an outer wall of the elastic ball bearing as a plurality of projecting surface structures arranged circumferentially distributed with gaps in between such that in a first rotational state of the elastic ball bearing within the housing the projecting surface structures are aligned to be able to come into engagement such that the elastic ball bearing is held in the lifted up position, and such that in a second rotational state of the elastic ball bearing the projecting surface structures of the elastic ball bearing are aligned with gaps of the projecting surface structures of the housing.

Ball socket for a ball joint
11255376 · 2022-02-22 · ·

A socket for a ball joint having a socket body with an opening and a hollow space, which comprises a concave inside peripheral surface that delimits the hollow space and extends around a longitudinal axis, and which is axially divided into two body halves which merge together in a transition zone, each of which comprises an inside peripheral surface half. A first body half comprises a first inside peripheral surface half which lies on a spherical surface and is closed, in the circumferential direction, and a second body half which comprises the socket opening, at least one slot extending axially and a second inside peripheral surface half which is closed in the circumferential direction, or closed apart from the slot. The second body half is designed such that the second inside peripheral surface half lies outside the spherical surface at least an axial distance away from the transition zone.

LEANING VEHICLE

A leaning vehicle including a vehicle body, two front wheels, and a support mechanism by which the two front wheels are supported by the vehicle body. The support mechanism includes a joint mechanism that is a ball joint and that includes a ball stud including a ball part connected to a shaft, and a holder having an open end part through which the ball stud is insertable, such that the ball part is freely rotatable in the holder. The open end part includes first to fourth inner edge parts. When the ball stud is in a steering neutral and leaning neutral position, in a direction along a central axis of the ball stud, the first and second inner edge parts do not overlap, and the third and fourth inner edge parts overlap, the ball part. The ball stud is tiltable between the first and second inner edge parts.

Termination assembly

The invention relates to an umbilical termination assembly for terminating a cable or umbilical. The termination assembly comprises a plurality of umbilical elements extending from an umbilical and which pass through a bulkhead plate. The seated ball element has a spherical body through which an umbilical element passes. The ball element is seated in a cup member which allows the ball element to rotate through a large range of angles allowing it to be aligned with the umbilical element without the umbilical element needing to be manipulated or forced into position. The umbilical element can then be attached to the ball element which is supported by the cup member on the bulkhead. This allows the axial tension in the umbilical element to be transferred to the bulkhead.

Ball-and-socket joint for chassis parts of a motor vehicle

A ball joint including a ball stud which has a spherical portion, two bearing shells that are arranged on the spherical portion such that there is a small gap between the two bearing shells, and a housing that is made from plastic in one piece and encloses the two bearing shells such that the two bearing shells are urged against the spherical portion by the housing.

Insert for a ball joint in a motor vehicle, ball joint or link having an insert of this type, and method for producing an insert of this type, a ball joint of this type or a link of this type

An insert for a ball joint (19) in a motor vehicle. The insert having a first part-structure (6) for making at least partial slide-bearing contact with a joint ball (2). The first part-structure (6) can be connected, by over-molding, to a joint socket (17) and/or to a joint housing (18). The insert (1) can be positioned and/or handled to cover a pole surface, to increase the extraction force, the insert (1) has an open part-structure (20) such that a cage-like configuration can be produced for surrounding the joint ball (2).

A joint assembly for use in transmitting torque comprises a ball and socket arrangement. The socket is comprised in a housing, and further comprises a key chamber with a substantially regular polygonal profile defining interior faces. The ball is provided on a ball stud component, and has a plurality of convexly curved facets. The ball is inserted in the socket with a plurality of keys, such that the keys are disposed between the ball facets and a corresponding interior face. Each key provides a bearing surface that mates with a corresponding facet, and a surface opposite the bearing surface to mate with the interior face. The sides of the key define a biconvex profile.

BALL JOINT

A ball joint, in particular a chassis joint, which has a housing and a ball socket that comprises a ball bearing section for receiving a joint ball. An anti-rotation member prevents movement of the ball socket within the housing. To improve operational performance of the ball joint, the anti-rotation member is formed by a connecting element of the housing and a mating connecting element of the ball socket. The connecting elements have corresponding holding profiles so that, in an assembled condition, the connecting elements form a shape-enclosing plug-in connection.
