Multiple pressure mixed refrigerant cooling process
Systems and methods described for increasing capacity and efficiency of natural gas liquefaction processes having a mixed refrigerant precooling system with multiple pressure levels comprising cooling the compressed mixed refrigerant stream and separating the cooled compressed mixed refrigerant stream into a vapor and liquid portion. The liquid portion provides refrigeration duty to a first precooling heat exchanger. The vapor portion is further compressed, cooled, and condensed, and used to provide refrigeration duty to a second precooling heat exchanger. A flash gas separated from the liquefied natural gas is warmed and combined with the natural gas feed stream.
System and Method for Removing Freezing Components from a Feed Gas
A system for removing freezing components from a feed gas includes a heat exchanger, a scrub column and a return vapor expansion device. The heat exchanger includes a reflux cooling passage and a return vapor passage. Vapor from the scrub column is directed through the return vapor expansion device, where the temperature and pressure are lowered. The resulting cooled fluid then travels to the return vapor passage of the heat exchanger and is used to cool a vapor stream in the reflux cooling passage to create a reflux fluid stream that is directed to the scrub column.
Coproduction of liquefied natural gas and electric power with refrigeration recovery
Systems and methods for increasing the efficiency of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, as well as facilitating coproduction of electric power, and compressed natural gas (CNG) are described. The systems and methods facilitate producing an intermediate LNG at a higher temperature, recovering refrigeration from flash gas and boil-off gas from the LNG, using flash-gas and boil-off gas as fuel to generate electric power, and providing LNG, CNG, and electric power to a vehicle fueling facility.
System and method for removing freezing components from a feed gas
A system for removing freezing components from a feed gas includes a heavy hydrocarbon removal heat exchanger and a scrub device. The scrub device includes a scrub column that receives a cooled feed gas stream from the heat exchanger and a reflux separation device. Vapor from the scrub column is directed to the heat exchanger and cooled to create a reflux stream that includes a liquid component. This reflux stream is directed to the reflux separation device and a resulting liquid component stream is used to reflux the column. Vapor from the reflux separation device is expanded and directed to the heat exchanger, where it provides refrigeration, and a processed feed gas line.
Methods and configurations for LNG liquefaction
Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for pre-cooling a natural gas stream to a liquefaction plant. A system may comprise a compressor configured to receive a first natural gas stream at a first pressure and produce a second natural gas stream at a second pressure; an exchanger, wherein the exchanger is configured to receive the second natural gas stream as the second pressure and cool the second natural gas stream to produce a cooled natural gas stream; and an expander, wherein the expander is configured to receive the cooled natural gas stream and expand the cooled natural gas stream from the second pressure to a third pressure.
Controlled refrigeration and liquefaction using compatible materials for energy management
Disclosed techniques include enabling controlled refrigeration and liquefaction and energy management. A liquid is pumped into a closed chamber to compress a vapor. Pressure is increased in the closed chamber by pumping additional liquid into the closed chamber. The increasing pressure enables assimilation of the vapor into the liquid. The heat of compression is removed from the vapor simultaneously with compression. The liquid containing the vapor that was assimilated is withdrawn from the chamber. It is flashed to release at least a portion of the vapor that was assimilated. The flashing results in absorbing a latent heat of vaporization from surfaces in thermal contact with the liquid. A first and second heating/cooling circuit are controlled. Gas within the first heating/cooling circuit is cooled and compressed using a liquid piston. A gas is warmed within the second heating/cooling circuit, and expansion is accomplished using a liquid piston.
Modularized LNG Separation Device and Flash Gas Heat Exchanger
Described herein are methods and systems for the liquefaction of natural gas to produce a LNG product. The methods and systems use an apparatus for separating a flash gas from a liquefied natural gas (LNG) stream to produce a LNG product and recovering refrigeration from the flash gas. The apparatus includes a shell casing enclosing a heat exchange zone comprising a coil wound heat exchanger, and a separation zone. The heat exchange zone is located above and in fluid communication with the separation zone. Flash gas is separated from the LNG product in the separation zone and flows upwards from the separation zone into the heat exchange zone where refrigeration is recovered from the separated flash gas.
Mixed Refrigerant Liquefaction System and Method with Pre-Cooling
A system for cooling a gas includes a pre-cool heat exchanger and a liquefaction heat exchanger. The pre-cool heat exchanger uses a pre-cool refrigerant to pre-cool a feed gas stream prior to the stream being directed to a liquefaction heat exchanger. The liquefaction heat exchanger uses a mixed refrigerant to further cool the pre-cooled gas. The pre-cool heat exchanger also pre-cools the liquefaction mixed refrigerant used by the liquefaction heat exchanger.

This reflux stream is directed to the reflux separation device and a resulting liquid component stream is used to reflux the column. Vapor from the reflux separation device is expanded and directed to the heat exchanger, where it provides refrigeration, and a processed feed gas line.
