Intrinsically safe firearm

An intrinsically safe firearm may include a handle and a frame connected by a pivot pin. One or more latches of the firearm can temporarily fix the firearm in a stowed orientation or a deployed orientation. In the deployed orientation, a magazine of the firearm can be removed from the handle; a slide of the firearm can be removed from the frame; a magazine safety allows a firing pin to strike a primer of a round in the firearm; and a trigger of the firearm is accessible to discharge the round in the firearm. In the stowed orientation, the magazine is not removable from the handle; the slide is not removable from the frame; the magazine safety prevents the firing pin from striking the primer; and the trigger of the firearm is not accessible.

Modular Trigger Control Unit For Firearms
20200191514 · 2020-06-18 ·

Various examples of a modular trigger control unit for firearms are described. The trigger control unit can be removably installed on a grip frame and installed between the grip frame and a slide assembly of a semi-automatic firearm. The trigger control unit includes at least a trigger pin and a trigger pivotable around the trigger pin when pulled. In response to the trigger being pulled by a user when the trigger control unit is installed between the grip frame and the slide assembly, a firing pin lug of a striker-firing mechanism in the slide assembly is released thereby allowing a striker of the striker-firing mechanism to move forward with respect to the slide assembly. Moreover, the trigger control unit is secured to the grip frame at least by the trigger pin such that removal of the trigger control unit from the grip frame requires removal of the trigger pin.

Handgun sear with multiple engagement surfaces

A handgun sear has a sear body extending between a proximal end portion to a distal end portion. The sear defines a first engagement surface adjacent the proximal end portion and a second engagement surface positioned distally of the first engagement surface. The sear can pivot about the distal end portion between a cocked position and a displaced position. The second engagement surface can be used to arrest forward movement of the striker in the event of an impulse that causes the striker to disengage from the first engagement surface. The sear may be incorporated into a fire control assembly of a semiautomatic handgun or other firearm.

Trigger bar for a firearm

A trigger bar for a semi-automatic firearm including a continuous U-shaped body and a single tab extending outward from a base of the U-shaped body. The tab is offset from a centerline located between legs of the U-shaped body. The trigger bar is configured to operate the sear when the legs are coupled to a sear assembly of the firearm, and only the single tab is coupled to a trigger of the firearm via a trigger bar slot of the trigger.

A trigger mechanism for a repeating rifle includes a sear pivotable about a first axis, a detent lever pivotable about a second axis and having an extension with a catch that is engaged with the sear when the mechanism is cocked, and a trigger pivotable about a trigger axis, wherein upon rotational actuation thereof, the trigger acts directly upon the detent lever, without any intervening components, pivoting the detent lever about the second axis in a direction opposite to the trigger rotation, and releasing the sear projection from the detent lever catch. In embodiments, the trigger pull is adjusted by an adjusting spring driven by an adjusting screw that is freely accessible from beneath the trigger mechanism. Embodiments further include a sear return spring between the sear and detent lever, and/or a trigger return spring opposing the adjusting spring that holds the trigger in a defined position without play.
