Tape Measure End Piece Attachment
20170299364 · 2017-10-19 ·

The present invention is a tape measure end piece attachment. The tape measure end-piece attachment is made from one piece of material, wherein the components are all continuously connected. The tape measure end piece attachment has a rounded bottom, a straight tongue with a connecting section, and a large hook. The straight tongues connecting section allows the tape measure end piece attachment to be connected to a tape measure end hook that has two raised rivets for attachments. The rounded bottom of the tape measure end piece attachment allows the end piece and the tape measure blade to travel across rough and or uneven surfaces.

The large hook of the tape measure end piece can hook onto objects to achieve a measurement at a distance or be pushed up against an object to obtain a measurement. The tape measure end piece has very limited movement once secured to a tape measure hook with raised rivets but moves back and forth the thickness of the large hook as to obtain an accurate measurement whether hooking on to an object or being pushed up against an object for a measurement.

Scale fixating device

A scale fixating device includes a fixing block unmovably fixating a first end of a scale to an object, and a pulling block fixating a second end of the scale to the object while pulling the second end of the scale to the second end side. The pulling block includes a fixated base fixated to an object, a slide holding the second end of the scale and installed slidably with respect to the fixated base, and a pulling mechanism having a first end engaged to the slide and a second end engaged to the fixated base, the pulling mechanism pulling the slide toward the second end relatively with respect to the fixated base. The scale fixating device either prevents a friction force from changing between the slide and the fixated base or generates an extremely large friction force between the slide and the fixated base.

Measuring devices with integrated measurement conversions from fraction-inches to decimal-inches and vice versa
09823055 · 2017-11-21 ·

Disclosed is a measuring device that is adapted for providing conversions from fractions of an inch to decimals of an inch and vice versa. The measuring device includes a ruler having a first edge opposite a second edge. The first edge includes markings for indicating units of measurement in decimals, while the second edge includes markings for indicating units of measurement in fractions. The markings in decimals directly align with corresponding markings in fractions so that the user can determine fraction-decimal equivalents by locating the alignments of the markings. Furthermore, the present invention may be a traditional ruler, a retractable tape measure, a measuring tape, a right angle ruler, or a yard stick, depending upon embodiment.

TAPE MEASURE WITH FLEXIBLE FINGER BRAKE AND RELATED METHOD

A tape measure may include a housing including an interior space and a brake opening in communication with the interior space, a reel rotatably supported within the interior space, a tape blade at least partially wound on the reel, and a finger brake positioned adjacent the brake opening. The finger brake may include a support frame attached to the housing and including a frame opening, and a flexible member attached to the support frame and extending over the frame opening. The flexible member may be configured to deflect or elastically deform from a released position in which the flexible member is spaced apart from the tape blade to an engaged position in which at least a portion of the flexible member contacts a portion of the tape blade.

System and Method for Making a Fluid Container with Integrated and Locking Measuring Tape
20170284782 · 2017-10-05 · ·

The invention is a fluid container, such as a flask or canteen, positioned in previously unused spaces found in the housing of a measuring tape mechanism. The present invention possesses a fluid container or vessel place inside the external housing of a measuring tape component (with an opening and cap), which simultaneously encloses an internal integrated spooled measuring tape with spring-loaded retracting measuring tape with a locking mechanism. The present invention allows for the simultaneous placement of a fluid container inside previously unused space in a measuring tape housing to store fluids in an efficient and effective manner without requiring two separate vessels or components, to allow for a more efficient and effective incorporation of a useful fluid vessel in previously unused space in a measuring tape mechanism to provide storage of hydration or medicinal fluids in a more efficient and effective manner on construction or work sites.

Combination tape measure and marker

A combination tape measure and marker is provided. The combination tape measure and marker includes a measuring tape housing having a top portion and a front portion. A lever arm is connected to the top portion of the measuring tape housing. A cartridge is integrally attached to the front portion of the measuring tape housing. The lever arm extends through the cartridge. A marker is removably secured within the cartridge and is operationally attached to the lever arm. A spring is housed in the cartridge and provides a retracted and extended position for the marker. The marker is movable separately and independently from the measuring tape housing by selectively depressing the lever arm to lock the marker in an extended position to mark a surface.

Tape measure with epicyclic gear drive for tape retraction

A tool, such as a tape measure, including a spring-based retraction system is shown. The retraction system utilizes an epicyclic gear train coupled between the tape blade winding reel and a rotating arbor or axle within the tape measure. A spiral spring has an outer end coupled to the reel and an inner end coupled to the axle. The gear train may be a reduction gear train such that the axle rotates slower than the reel. By coupling the spiral spring between the gear train input and gear train output, high energy density springs may be used, which may allow for decrease in housing size, increase in tape length or thickness for a given housing size, and/or advantageous retraction speed control.

Connecting device for measurement tapes in elevator devices

In order to be able to increase safety in elevator systems, a connecting device for connecting a transmission device for transmitting information is provided, wherein the transmission device is attached to a measurement tape for determining the position of a cab in an elevator shaft and wherein the connecting device is designed as a guide bracket for guiding and/or supporting the measurement tape, so that the guide bracket at least partially surrounds the measurement tape, and wherein the guide bracket has at least one opening for reading out the marking unit, and wherein the connecting device has two connection contacts for connecting to one of the communication lines and/or supply lines and an interruption device for interrupting one of the communication lines and/or supply lines, wherein the interruption device is situated in such a way that the interruption occurs between the two connection contacts.
