System and Method for Measuring the Inside Diameter of a Pipe
20230266112 · 2023-08-24 ·

A system and method for measuring an inside diameter of a pipe to determine if it exceeds a predetermined value using a plurality of fingers operatively connected to a spring. When in a fully extended position, the distance between opposite fingers is the predetermined value. The fingers are pivotable between a starting position, through the fully extended position, and to a failing position. In the starting position, an outer end of each finger engages an inside surface of the pipe to compress the spring. If the diameter exceeds the predetermined value as the system moves through the pipe, the pipe inside surface will no longer engage the fingers, which releases the spring causing the fingers to pivot to the failing position, where they remain until the system is removed from the pipe and manually reset.

On-vehicle disk brake lathe system with capture device and use thereof

An on-vehicle disk brake lathe system is attachable to a vehicle in order to machine a brake disk attached to a wheel hub and rotating about a wheel hub axis. The brake disk has an in-board friction face and an out-board friction face opposite the in-board friction face. The on-vehicle disk brake lathe system comprises a cutting mechanism and a brake disk drive unit including a wheel hub adaptor removably connectable to the wheel hub and a motor configured to rotate the wheel hub adaptor and the brake disk when the wheel hub adaptor is connected to the wheel hub. Further, the on-vehicle disk brake lathe system comprises a capture device. The capture device is configured to be moved to a position at which the capture device can capture an image showing at least a portion of the brake disk and/or at least a portion of the cutting mechanism.

A gauge comprising an elongate rod and a head. The rod has an elongate axis. The head has a transverse dimension perpendicular to the elongate axis of the rod. The gauge has an insertion configuration and an inspection configuration, wherein the transverse dimension of the head is greater in the inspection configuration than in the insertion configuration. The head comprises two head portions each with a longitudinally-extending outer surface and a longitudinally-extending inner surface and, in the insertion configuration, the inner surfaces of the head portions are at least partly in abutment with each other. The gauge can be used in a method of measuring an internal dimension of a bore within a component.

A taper gauge assembly includes a plurality of gauges that each has a flat side and a tapered side. Each of the gauges has ruler indicia printed thereon for indicating the width of the gauges along a full length of the gauges. A selected one of the gauges is insertable into a gap between a reference fixture and an assembled part in a manufacturing setting. Moreover, the selected gauge is inserted downwardly until the flat side abuts a perimeter edge of the reference fixture and the tapered side abuts a perimeter edge of the assembled part. Thus, the perimeter edge the reference fixture and the perimeter edge of the assembled part is aligned with a respective point along the ruler indicia. In this way an inspection distance is defined between the reference fixture and the assembled part for performing a quality inspection.
